On the surface it starts as a story you wanna side with daughter on. But with details and context, it's very clear that ship has sailed and she is actively being spiteful and disrespectful and doesn't see wrong in it at all. Multiple adults have explained to her on multiple occasions that her behavior is inappropriate and she went to therapy, he didn't attack her or fight her or try to force a relationship. He respected her boundaries and didn't try to be more than he was. He was her moms husband and her mom cares about her so he cared for her when he could. He didn't have to dote on her or fawn over her if she didn't respect it or want it. At a point in her life she HAD to realize that he wasn't the villain. She had to realize that her image of her father as a child was not the person was always was. I just hope that the intervention doesn't shock her into something else, because sometimes reality shocks don't hit 2000's babies well given internet tells them that you can do stuff like this and get away with it because influencers and popular things get in the way of the other stuff.

She didn't knew about economics at all she just must've assumed what is mostly shown in movies (dad earns, mom cooks) she never got to know how to terrible of a person her bio-dad actually was cause he would still manage to impress her, love her! How do you expect a child to forget (in her perspective) a loving father and accept a stranger as a new one! (Even thought that was not what stepdad and her mom meant to do) From her perspective, she just doesn't see stepdad as a family and the fact that her mom is now with someone else even though her bio-dad is such a good person (in her eyes) makes her feel like her mom betrayed her dad and is living with another man! Her behaviour to me seems completely normal and it seems her parents never taught her to respect elders which maybe why she disrespected stepdad everytime which is wrong on her part but it's not her fault! She just wasn't raised correctly!

The step dad & mom r both to blame for the tyrant, abusive, snarky kid. Bought her gifts, overlooked, let her abuse others…not on my watch. She will be an adult who abuses. It’s more abt who the kid was rather than a divorce. Trip a kid and u get taken home, dropped off to a caregiver and I’d head back to the party. U have to be one step ahead of an abuser.

Seriously! What the hell is wrong with this girl!? I thought she would mellow out at least 2 years into the marriage. Like a tough girl type of persona but with a caring heart. Does she autistic type of mind or OCD that everything has to stay the same in order for her point of view of the world to make sense? I want to know what the hell is wrong with her! Everyone, even her Bio-dad, are call out on her crap. And those replies at the end, why are they siding with her? She causes misery to her family and her stepfamily. WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER!!!!?

Paarent and step parents are NEVER required to pay for offsprings college. There are other things that can be done by the offspring to cover college costs.

I am 60 years old, and since, so many parents stop spanking their kids. Kids have gotten worse and carry the bad behavior into adulthood. Op didn't put his foot down soon enough. She needed a trip or two to the wood shed.

Spanking has nothing to do w/the situation. I was beaten & saw my mom enjoyed it by the look on her face. I refused to beat my kids. I had few rules but they were hard and fast. We adopted two kids & one ch was a rule breaker. I nvr wavered in grounding. He was very social…sorry u have two weeks grounding. U do not have to beat a kids tender skin to raise them. I have raised a nursing home worker, a dr., a lawyer, and a flight attendant with a major airlines. They all call, visit, text, & care for me & their siblings.
@Purdin347 Жыл бұрын
@@CS-pi5oc there is a difference between spanking and beating. And sad you don't know it.
@Purdin347 Жыл бұрын
My dad use to tell me the spanking hurt him worse then it did me, I always thought he was nuts, until I had to spank my daughter. Getting spankings or grounded taught me, that there are consequences for doing wrong. And we either teach them while they are young or a judge will. Or even may have to disown. And either of those are worse then any spanking.
@rikubrown8109 Жыл бұрын
@@CS-pi5ocsorry for what happened to you, but thats abuse and not discipline. Spanking a child when he does wrong is a good thing(as long as it doesn't cross into abuse), then you have a discussion with your child about his actions and why he got the punishment he did.
@bautistalover Жыл бұрын
@@CS-pi5ocgood for you. But spankings work for some people and not for everyone. Groundings work for some people and not for others every family is different. From what you described that wasn’t a spanking that was your mom abusing you. Parents who spank their kids don’t enjoy it.

That girl is no longer a child. She is a grown woman and from the beginning she was shitty and disrespectful. How could she not know that her father could not support her. She slept in the room while he slept on the couch. He was trying to get his life together and maintain a positive relationship with his daughter. I commend him for being honest with his daufghter instead of saying disrespectful things about her mother and her husband. There are many childen in the same situation, myself being one, and disrespect is somerthing my mother never allowed or tolerated. I think she needs to 1) get a job 2) start saving for her own education and 3) stop being a cruel, bitter, callous, and hateful person. Everyone realizes this, but her.

OP 1, the child was a problem from the very beginning so why volunteer to be financially responsible for her???

At the end of the day, her mum should have been more open and honest earlier, she did her no favours in 'protecting her' from he truth so much. Bio Dad was also an AH because he wanted to play the part of the cool dad, and only when he couldn't avoid admitting the truth did he step up and act like an adult. At no point did OP have any obligation to the daughter to pay for college etc. In fact, the final intervention and everything else might be the daughter's best chance to become a decent person and a functioning adult, by hook AND by Crook

I'm not surprised that Tori got mad that her own bio dad was telling her how she should treat op and her attitude. Nor am I surprised that she tried to leave because she felt she was being "attacked" and didn't like that EVERYONE was telling her off about her horrid attitude and entitled behavior. That she has to grow up and act like an adult. Of course the brat holes herself up in her room and refuses to speak to ANYONE because she's upset about everything. That no one is putting up with her attitude, her mom threatening to cut her off if she refuses to stop treating op horribly, everyone telling her off about her entitlement, her bio dad not siding with her, and not going to the college she wants. Not surprised that she also refuses to talk to her bio dad since he didn't side with her, probably believes he sided with op, and for threatening to cut off their lunch dates if she refuses to shape up.

Believe me, I have lived this life and opened my home and heart to 2 children. One child loved me and was grateful but the other child made our life miserable! She ended up destroying my relationship with the other sister. She has Autism Spectrum, and had her first psychotic break at 13. This child had a cognitive level of 6-8 years old (she just turned 30). The “normal” sister still does everything she can to hurt me.I loved both those girls with everything in my being and now all i have is a broken heart.

Bitterness between step relations is a common thread in most blended families now. There has to be a law that mandates that before couple with children from previous marriages (and their children) should undergo a state-mandated counseling before marriage and explaining what are the consequences and effects of living under a common roof between them,. Resentment is almost always present when parents marry with another person. It becomes so complicated and some people are not emotionally and psychologically equipped to deal with it.
@louellacharlton4425 Жыл бұрын
We do not need a new law! Government has no business being in this. Good grief have you learned nothing from the last 2 1/2 yrs? Government is why we are having such a hard time.
