@spaltersar8 ай бұрын
Nice you didn't mention his rebounds went up in playoffs and leading the league in assists in 1967 playoffs, when he won his first championship. Wilt played the majority of playoff games when he reduced scoring and focussed on passing the ball and rebounding/defense in his later years. You are missing any context. Take a look at the stats for the first 6 playoffs Wilt played, maybe it will change your mind. When Wilt scored high, people say he was selfish and a ballhog, when he passed the ball and focussed on defense/rebounding, he had "poor play". Still fascinating. He only has 2 rings because the 60s Celtics had up to 8 HoF players (1963) in their roster. Period. In the early 70s he had to face the 7 HoF players Knicks. McGee has 3 rings with 3 different franchises. Is he better than Hakeem? Teams win championships, not individuals.
@spaltersar8 ай бұрын
Sorry, you are wrong. From 1973-2019 players were measured with shoes, Wilt and his competition were measured barefoot. Difference in average height of starting centers 1963 compared to 2021 is less than a half inch. No other player in NBA history faced more HoF players on his position per game (55%) than Wilt did. Physical attributes are part of players greatness. Nobody would discredit Jordan for his 48" vert or having the biggest hands in the league. Nobody discredits Shaq for having 330 lbs. Wilt scored 48 points or more (62 max) on Bill Russell in the '62 season 8 times. No competition? The 1962 Celtics had 7 HoF players in their roster. Even if Wilt would have been the tallest player in his era (he wasn't): If being taller than other players gives you so much advantage, I wonder why Manute Bol (7'7") averaged 2.7 ppg for career. You still need skill to score 40 ppg avg for 515(!) consecutive games (#2 in that category goes to Elgin Baylor, 33 games, Wilt also grabbed 25 rpg avg for those 515 games).

Steph doesn’t just JACK UP THREES he shoots the 3 ball better than anyone ever has and he wins legitimate Championships! You don’t win championships by just jacking up a lot of 3s many have tried most have failed. Live by the 3 die by the 3 unless you’re Steph curry.

@@terryboydii5713 WRONG!! Steve Kerr has a higher career shooting percentage from TWO AND THREE than Curry!! I get it you like Curry and want to slob him!! Curry jacks up threes and has the green light to do it! Yes he has a great shooting ability!! Kerr changed the game when he allowed curry to shoot bad % shots. Miller could have, bird, and Ray Allen. But it was never seen as smart team ball.
@alekesam8 ай бұрын
I feel like when Curry first started getting the green light to shoot like he does by Kerr it wasn't bad as, while they would be considered bad shots, they still were within the offense. Later though, Curry just became an unconscionable chucker and was never--and should've been--reigned in. Reggie and Jesus Shuttleworth both would've produced similar numbers while very likely being far more efficient doing so.

Wilt Chamberlain was before my time. But I know he was the number 1 person to change the game. The man used to dunk his free throws. They had to change the rule. The man would block every shot at the basket. They had to change the rule. The man could just stand in the key and win the game on his own. They have to change the rule. Shaq changed rules. Jordan changed/saved the NBA.

Non bias list, and its kinda ranked by time: #1 - Wilt (the NBA changed the rules because of him) #2 - Pistol Pete (handles) #3 - Dr. J (The archetype of the modern player) #4 - Magic & Bird (I have no words to describe this 2) #5 - MJ (made everybody fall in love with the game) #6 - Iverson (5´10´´ unstoppable scorer with swag) #6 - Ginobili (eurostep, redefined what a 6th man is) #7 - Bron (dude coasted to 10 nba finals just by using his bball iq) #8 - Steph (made everyone think shooting from the parking lot was a good idea).. Maybe I could add the dream, because his footwork was copied by pretty much any player, even kobe.

Stephs not the leagues all time best (I have him at #8 all time), but he changed the game by far more than anybody. He changed the definition of what an acceptable shot is, he made the slow footed paint clogging big man obsolete, he forced teams to train to be able to hit high volume 3’s because there was no way to beat him if you couldn’t keep pace with the 3. Now, every league at every level in every country has a 3 pt arsenal.
