Talking heads in the media honestly couldn't comprehend what happened and they always had a bias against Steph because he does it differently and is smaller in size. They worship big guys that are easy on the eyes. They only look at simple stats like ppg and build up these narratives in their head like durant was the better player and stuff. But people who are genuinely interested in basketball can see with their own eyes this man's game has layers to it and his impact on offensive end is arguably the greatest ever. They give slack to curry for having durant for 2 of his championship. Tell me which of the top 10 didn't have another top talent around them? If anything 2 of his durantless championship didn't even have another top 75 players in the squad according to nba. Magic and Kareem had each other, Jordan without Pippen you can't imagine, bird was in a loaded celtics all his career, lebron we all know his list of teammates, kobe shaq. It is just ridiculous at this point. Look at Durant's record without Steph when they were both in warriors and steph's without durant. If durant was the main man, why defenses literally died on the floor to stop this man? If all these guys were so much greater than steph, why do we see only steph being defended like an alien just to not have him going? There are things stats couldn't translate that we have to see with our own eyes and for me so far what I've seen this man is the definition of greatness, the way he plays this game. Even after a 4th championship, the shit that talking heads are throwing at him is beyond comprehension just pure hate.

The last two months proved that KD leaving the Warriors was a blessing not only to Golden State, but to the world of basketball. With KD still there taking a heavy load, we'd never see Steph 2.0, the new and improved video game version. But then I predicted Wiggins having finally had a training camp for the first time would be very very good and I missed how good Poole would be. But most of these are not called "plays," they are experienced creative players who have played together for ten years in the cases of Curry and Dray and Klay reacting to what the defense is giving them within their offensive system and coming up with responses on the fly. That is why defenses in the playoffs cannot adapt and shut them down.

None of it is just down to experienced creative players, it's a system put in place that takes advantage of Steph, Draymond and Klay's abilities. Being an elite scorer as 3pt shooter first is so much different than being an elite scorer as a rim attacker. The playstyle is lower maintenance and it stretches the floor wide open for teammates to attack the rim or play 4 on 3. Stephen Curry is truly a star that bends the basketball court to revolve around him.

This man is next level. The basketball IQ sets him apart from everyone else. It takes a certain mental capacity to remain focused and strategic during high stress moments where adrenaline can and often will take over. The ability to do so, and maintain a steady stream of thought that is still able to quickly and accurately calculate is critical and something that was on full display by Curry these playoffs. And it is not just the quick thinking, but the recollection of specific and often times, complicated plays and their strategic responses, that are crucial for tackling certain situations with success. All of this, plus the insane skill to actually deliver and execute shots, make this part of the reason why Curry should be easily considered one of the best players to have ever played the sport. If you look at past games, even from the 90s, you can see how the game was played in a simpler fashion with not that many complicated plays and aspects as there are now. Let alone how the players back then were less "trained" to play basketball in the way it is now with data and metrics that identify specific weaknesses and strengths. It's amazing and I could keep talking about this and being in awe, but I just had to say my piece on how beautiful this sport is and how much greatness we're witnessing from Stephen Curry.

Since he had a slump shooting year this regular season people thought he was finally regressing and didn’t even have him as a top 5 or even top 10 player in this league, but I never came to those conclusions. These playoffs showed that he’s not regressing at all and is still a top 3 player in this league. In my opinion, he’s at his peak right now. I gotta shoutout to Steph’s handle as well. It’s even better than it was in his prime athletic years. He’s able to handle contact thanks to added muscle he put on, and he’s able to get to anywhere on the court since defenders are terrified of him pulling up. The fact that at times he was GS’s only true three-level scorer (Poole had his moment) says a lot about how much he empowers this offense I want to shoutout Thinking Basketball for this concept but Steph might be greatest amplifier of all time. He’s not a LeBron who can drag mediocre players with him to offensive success. But Curry’s skill set and the GS System compliments a players’ strengths while hiding their weaknesses. Klay, Draymond, GP2, Wiggins, Looney, Iguodala, Poole, OPJ, Livingston, and even arguably KD have all been at their best playing with Curry because of his spacing warping gravity and his unselfishness. LeBron is one of the smartest players in NBA history and he understands how much more enjoyable it’d be to play with Steph because he synergizes so well with players

The scary thing is because of his high efficiency and zero need to handle the ball, he is such a threat even as a second or third option. And because his game isn’t predicated on athleticism, when he turns 40 he’s still not going to be the number 2 option but more like 1.5* with any teammate.

I got one: Stephen Curry been the best player in the world since 2016 where he led his team to a 73-9 season with an all time efficient season. Yall let 1 MCL Sprain change the whole narrative about his performance and legacy. Was it not obvious that he couldn't drive left, sprint off screens, or back-cut in those 2016 playoffs? Wasn't it obvious that he was settling for contested 3's and jumpshot 2's all playoffs? Literally playing through an injury but his shooting talent is so great that it still took 7 games to beat him, only after his 7ft rim protector goes down for 5, 6, 7 AND when their DPOY went down for game 5 AND their finals MVP in Andre had back problems. I think the single worst take in all of this is that when KD joined the media IMMEDIATELY said KD was the better player. They didn't even let a bucket go in before they declared KD. And I was staring like "Who was just MVP and Unanimous MVP?" Like was I crazy there. The only person who got a positive rep in the 2016 playoffs was LeBron for winning. I fucking bet my life that right after Golden State bounced the Thunder there was maybe 10% of people/media that thought KD was the better player. The change in perception was so egregious that I still can't believe people fall for it. Like what?

Not saying they were a better team without KD. All I'm saying is that Draymond was right. They didn't need KD to get the job done. He was a luxury not a necessity. I'd get it if you wanted to take KD in a 1 on 1. But 5 on 5 basketball? Give me Steph every time.

What is often overlooked too is that his game is predicated more on skill than explosive athleticism, which means he can maintain this level of greatness in his 30's where the marathon type of effort is more suited to his body compared to "sprints" of explosive youth. Remember when Jordan won his last championship in 1998, he was also 34 and his great performance also relied less on explosiveness (compared to his earlier years, he was still a beast) but on his complete mastery of skill (and other aspects of the game). That said, I hope Curry can still give us a few more years to watch him at his best! The playoffs this year were a treat for any true basketball fan!
