Stephen A. Smith is fighting to deny Steph's greatness. Max laid down the outline for an excellent argument about Curry's greatness. There is nothing more disheartening than watching a guy 1 mile away from the rim hit the shot consistently, and then proceed to completely erase a 10 point lead in less than 4 possessions. He literally drains the life out of his opponents. All it takes is one 3 from Curry to create anxiety.

@ATL 1 Lebron is not relatable. He is 6 foot 9 260 pounds, with a 42+ vertical and fast af in striaght line. Steph may have the advantage of upbringing but genetically Lebron is far beyond Steph and most other people. You can trian yourself to be a great shooter. Certianly not anywhere near as good as Steph but you can become decent. You can never ever trian yourself to be 6 foot 9 260 pounds with crazy speed and crazy jumping. There's a reason more kids relate to Steph...Whose a below average NBA athlete but extraordinarily skilled Basketball player. Yea Steph grew up rich but he worked his ass off to get where hes at...His father didnt even think he would make the NBA. Lebron was dominating since he was in high school. 1990758 true. I think people in NBA circles decided this is the image for Lebron and they beat it into your head until you believe it. If you actually took stock of what everyone has done you might find people like KD, MJ, etc have done as much if not more. The dead giveaway for me was the school he opened. While it’s a great thing, everyone made it look like it’s unprecedented. The whole thing was orchestrated to be a big deal. David Robinson opened a school ‘IDEA Carver Academy’ in 2001 and has been a voice for education for decades. He’s done and continues to do more but it’s not in the media and he doesn’t care. People don’t really care about what social work you’re doing, they only care who’s doing it.

Stephen Curry is more influential on and off court in terms of just basketball. This man single handedly changed the dynamic of how every single basketball team plays.. The first thing you see in a gym nowadays is little kids attempting 3 pointers, college basketball teams are either driving to the basket or shooting 3s, the mid-range jumpshot is almost completely overlooked now. Curry smaller stature compared to other basketball players is very relatable to many kids who don’t have freakish athletic genes and is inspiring because Curry DOMINATES for his size. IMO Curry is the most influential basketball player ever.

Mj, Iverson, Lebron and Steph are the most influential players of all time. MJ's influence was becoming the 1st player to be really branded that way. Everyone my age that grew up in the 90s wanted to "Be Like Mike"! Plus hes the Goat. If MJ made you want to be like him, Iverson made you proud to be yourself. He was the guy that integrated "The Culture" with the NBA. They literally created the dress code because of him. Lebron's independence is his biggest influence. Not even MJ had power like Lebron. Hes the first guy to really control his own sports destiny and it's a big reason why owners and teams root for him to fail. Lebron also made team ball and making the right play cool again. He damn near has completely gotten rid of the hero ball era and the acceptance of hero ball. Steph made the 3 ball what dunking was for 40 years. He completely changed the way you guard players and the way you draft players. In a smaller way I would say Dirk deserves some mention also for big men shooting from deep and changing the way Americans looked at Euro players.

Max is so confused. How can Curry define this new era of basketball and yet not be in the convo for player best ever?

Off the court it's Lebron, not arguable. However, when talking on the court- It's Curry. No argument. Curry has made basketball a fast paced, transition scoring, 3pt game.
