it hurt so much hearing steph saying she felt like just an accessory for gtlive because she had such a big impact on gtlive. the jokes, the banter, the serious talks, everything steph has ever brought to the streams. she was never an accessory, she was the co-host of gtlive and a proud member of the theorist family and i hope that leaving will give her the time to reconnect with the important people that matter in her life. we're gonna miss you, steph!

The cohost situation is vastly superior to the single host one for these streams. We have two people who are meant to interact with each other while interacting with us. The one host situation means the host kind of awkwardly plays, interacts, and reads the comments all at once and...it just doesn't work well. Yeah, Steph wasn't always the player, but she could smoothly interact with us and Matt simultaneously. She provided additional banter and could be the main interaction point while Matt tried not to screw up the game too bad. Her life with Matt drew out things that no one else could. Without her, Chris and Jason might be able to feed Matt viewer comments, but it'll be less smooth since they're supposed to mostly be invisible to us. She's not an accessory. Her presence smoothed out the show, added content, and she was her own reason to be here. Nobody thought Frodo would be better as a solo act. Everyone needs a Sam.

Eeore, for example - always sad and depressed, but able to smile because of all the love and care his friends put into him. Piglet, afraid of so much and plagued with serious anxiety issues, but ultimately being able to face those challenges because of the confidence and support her friends gave her.

I think that watching them together is very enjoyable because they give off such a vibe of harmony and just seem fun as a couple. If they weren't already married, I would ship them together, in fact I still do and wish them all the best and hope they get through challenges and joy together. But yes, Stephanie had a much bigger impact on the channel, than she probably imagines. But I do hope that she gets to do fulfilling things with the extra time!

If you want to know why shes leaving, just a heads up it's not permanent, she will be in some gtlives in the future just not many, because shes going to take some time to focus on other work/business to support them like with merch and other stuff. We all saw Steph as a huge part of the show but she didn't see it herself. If you think that you're "just an accessory" in your own life or in the environment that you're in. In the most sincere, kind way I can say this, I never would have watched GTlive if Stephanie wasn’t a part of it. She has always brought this wonderful energy, creativity and humor to the streams alongside Mathew that one person can’t really create on their own in front of the camera. When I first started watching GTlive, it was summer of 2016, I was a rising high school junior and I was stuck in bed recovering from a diagnostic laparoscopy wherein I had been diagnosed with endometriosis. It was a scary, devastating time, and I still remember how things began looking up the first time an archived livestream popped up in my KZbin recommendations. I knew matpat from game theory, but I was surprised to see Stephanie there. I didn’t know she and Mathew were married until much later; to me she was a random woman at the time. It only took me a couple of hours to warm up to what a fun and cool person she was. She, along with Mathew, held my attention in a way that nothing else was really doing at the time, and very soon I was looking forward to watching the both of them on the couch every night at 7 over on the east coast. I’ve been here ever since. This spring, I’m graduating college with a bachelors degree in psychology and going on for a masters. Along the way, Mathew and Stephanie (and the rest of the GTlive team) have continued to be a positive presence in my life, through all the friendships and the boyfriends, excitement and grief, the major turning points. I could always, always count on having something so fun and relaxing to come and sit down with at the end of each day. A much needed breath of fresh air. I know that you all from Game Theory don’t know me and you probably never will, but I owe you all for so much that I have learned about life and how to live it. When I didn’t have positive role models, I had you. Thank you, all of you, and right now especially Stephanie for being here. I feel like I’ve grown up with you. In some ways, I feel I’ve been able to grow into the person that I am now because of you. I’m so proud of you for letting go of GTlive to do things that are important to you, but I hope you know that no moment you spent here was wasted. I have loved having you for every stream and video you’ve been here for. It’s been an honor to be let into your life a little bit over the years. I’ll miss you Stephanie, go on and have the absolute best life. God knows you deserve to.

I totally agree with this. It's so sad that she felt like that, and I understand why, but it's entirely not true. Steph, if you're reading this, we love you and appreciate you and while I respect your decision to leave I think I speak for all of us when I say that I - we - will miss you dearly. I personally didn't have a good role model as far as relationships are concerned growing up, so seeing you and Matthew together was my example of what a loving relationship and partnership should be. You helped me to believe in finding love again, and believe that loving others doesn't have to be painful or hard. You inspired and continue to inspire me everyday. For context, my mom's a single mom (always has been) and my Dad was emotionally and s#xually abusive. So I didn't really believe that finding a life partner was possible. Seeing you and Matthew interact with each other proved to me that my pessimistic views on love weren't true. You made me have hope for my future. During my struggle with depression, your live-streams made me feel less alone. The way you're always so kind, and yet also get competitive sometimes, showed me that there was and is a way to balance my independence and my learned codependence into an emotionally mature person that can be both by themselves and with others. I always felt like I had to be one or the other, it felt like I could never reach a middle ground. You lead by example, giving me hope and teaching me skills without ever knowing you were doing it. I will miss you, but you will never be truly gone, because you will live on in our hearts, our minds, and our positive actions that we learned from you.

I got pregnant a little bit after Steph did and hearing her little anecdotes about her pregnancy journey was nice for me. It was fun because we were both Stephanies and both pregnant going through similar things. You've been a delight, Steph, but I completely understand needing time for your loved ones. Enjoy your life! I started silently crying during steph’s speech at the end, and the part where she said she felt like an accessory at the start broke me. These streams have been there through the worst years of my life, and steph played such an integral role in my happiness. No matter what happened during that time or how I felt, I always came back to watch this show and without her I wouldn’t be the person I am today. You’ve never been “just an accessory” steph, you were the friend who was there for me. I started watching GTLive in my Sophomore year of highschool and I have been a steady follower ever since, and one of the things that drew me into this channel was Steph. I relate to her in a lot of ways and I've always appreciated her wit, her humility, her fun voices, her care for others, and her genuine personality. As much as I understand feeling like an accessory in the beginning, I hope you can see from the outpouring of love and support that we as your viewers never thought of you that way Steph. I completely understand what Steph means - sometimes it's just time. It's so easy to stay with the status quo and not make changes even when they're necessary, so I applaud her for making this decision that was clearly hard for her. I'll miss her so much. I admire her so much - she's intelligent and hardworking. Sometimes it's hard to find role model women who are highly educated and yet still seem down to earth and real. Rewatching this a day later reminded me of all the amazing memories with who I’d consider legitimate friends, even if they’ll never know me. Her perspectives on different topics and her witty banter with Matt were so entertaining and often introspective. (I remember feeling what Steph felt when Jason inserted is foot into his mouth).
