To my mind she is one of the foremost excellent actors we have produced. Waiting for God was a triumph and if you watch it, just notice the sheer number of lines she has to say, and each one is perfectly nuanced, and instinctively timed. She has worked for decades on TV, theatre and in radio, where she was brilliant as Carloyn Napp-Shappey in the scintillating Cabin Pressure. She merits every accolade going, and deserves to be up there with the luminaries.

Is it just us Americans who loved Diana Trent so much? Every time I see something like this, describing her career, Waiting for God seems to be almost a footnote. It was light entertainment and a bit preachy, but it could be damn powerful drama, thanks especially to Stephanie Cole. When Little Diana was born, I felt everything. Her expression was so vivid, it felt like my own. I've never had a child either, and it's too late now. Her cries were mine exactly. I doubt we Americans will ever understand the huge appeal of shows like Open All Hours (and Only Fools and Horses), but we really do get Tom and Diana. (Oh, and the Bucket Woman.) I've seen clips from Tenko too though. It looks very powerful, and having only seen those few clips, I can't imagine anyone else playing her part.

I utterly agree about the drama in Waiting For God, but I wouldn't say it was preachy. I found it very educational, and very poetic and philosophical. It explored so many themes to do with life, and it was wonderful religious satire as well.

Tenko is a fantastic series but due to the nature of the subject matter not one you can really say you enjoyed watching. Waiting for God was very succesful in the UK when it was first on but as tastes in comedy has changed it has dropped down the list of favourites. I still regard it as one of my favourites.
