Offense is sometimes conviction. If offended examine yourself and see if there’s any truth to the statement, if it doesn’t resonate, discard it.

I struggled so much with forgiveness and when i got married it was difficult because in marriage you have to constantly forgive, i learnt that i must forgive even before an offence comes. The Lord ministered to me and said read 1 Samuel 1 the story of Alkanh and wives (Hannah and Peninah). Hannah looked to God and not the hurt Peninah saying to her even though she had a right to keep offence and God blessed her. We can't keep offence and yet seeking God with our own hearts, our hearts is a place for God and place for our blessings, how can blessings come when our hearts are full of people. Thank you.

You are spot on, marriage puts the art of forgiveness to the test on a daily basis and I am learning that I need to constantly be ready to forgive and I can only do that when I have peace within me and that peace can only come from my relationship with the LORD.

What Janice said was very balanced. Sometimes we can unknowingly perpetuate division by minimizing another’s pain w messages such as “don’t be so offendable.’ While it is true that we should not be touchy as Christians, it is also true that those who may have offended us should be confronted in love, shown their wrong,bc scripture encourages us to have conversations in order to resolve the offense, rather than expect the person who is offended to ‘just suck it up.’

I have learned to forgive. But it had to start with my learning God truly loved me unconditionally. That was a hard lesson for me to learn, because I to this day have never had someone show me what the looks like or feels like. Since this was missing, I looked up every scripture I could find on God's love. That a year and a half ago I started see dream and vision for God helped too. The second is not something God gives everyone. I also learn that if you open yourself up, have faith, and listen in prayer; God may not answer the questions you have, but He will talk to you through the Spirit. The biggest hurdle to the last one is we have been so trained to give Him a laundry list of what we have to say, that we never say ok God I am done now it is Your turn to speak. This is not easy to learn, but it is possible. Don't limit God.

One thing I have to caution about. If the person that you have a problem with is an abuser. You don't have to stay or go back to them. You can still forgive, but unless they show you they have changed and come humbly and ask you to for give them and you know they mean it this time you should NEVER go back. Because they have not changed. I say this because I have family that are not just abusive, but one of they has tried to kill me at least twice that I know of. So I forgive them, but I will never go back unless God shows me they have truly changed.

Forgiveness for me is so hard because I’ve held onto everything that anyone has done to me as far as I can remember. So now wanting to forgive to heal myself I find it difficult. How do you forgive and truly feel it in your heart and not just saying it? Trying to be compassionate isn’t hard but I still feel like I’m unable to forgive because even though they may be going through whatever I didn’t deserve to be treated they way they treated me. Plus I have a childhood of feeling disrespected so being older I don’t let no one disrespect me now. This journey is hard.

I totally understand you because I have been in that same place. And the people offending me kept on doing it over and over again. But what I am learning is to try and see them the way God sees them. That the same way God has forgiven us is the same way we should extend forgiveness to others. Yes, what they did to you is hurtful but maybe they are going on with life not even knowing they hurt you. If there is an opportunity to tell them that they hurt you, please do so. Also going to therapy might really help with healing from the disrespect you went through as a child. Going to therapy and through God's help, I was able to address my unforgiveness with my dad. Although I have not told him how he hurt me because we are not in communication, my therapist asked me to write a letter to him and express all I felt that He had did to me and how I was making the conscious decision to let go of the hurt and embrace the identity God has for me. That letter writing really changed things for me honestly. Hope this helps. Sending you love and prayers😊

Oh my goodness! I totally feel the same way as you. I have kept a long record of every offense. I can tell you who said it, when and where it all happened. I can say I forgive but it's a heart thing. Mentally, I can say I forgive you. But it's doesn't touch my heart. How do you get the forgiveness to reach/ touch your heart to break that chain? Unforgiveness has a death grip on my heart. I just don't know what to do to get it off or out of my heart. I don't know how to let unforgiveness reach or touch my heart. Mentally I got it but it's not mental... it's the heart. I don't know how to get the bitterness and anger out of my heart?

It is fine to talk about greater forgiveness to people you're in relationship with e.g. spouse, church folk, friend etc. BUT there are people the enemy uses to be weapons against our success or joy - and keep saying "you don't know what they've gone through to be like this" perpetuates open doors and mind games and losses because one is feeling "I'm wrong" for wanting this person to stop what they're doing. There are really situations where doors need to be closed - in wisdom and freedom, not "unforgiveness"

Forgiveness is not about being able to justify letting go of an offense. As you grow closer to God you start to realize how many wrong actions you have made in ignorance or brokenness and how much grace God extends to you. Once you have a true appreciation for that unmerited forgiveness given to you it becomes easier to forgive the offense done to you by someone.

Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and rescue us from eternal death. Because of Jesus' death on our behalf, all we have to do is believe in Him, trusting in His death and in the shedding of His blood as payment for our sins, as well as in His burial and resurrection from the dead the third day, and we will be saved! John 20:24-31; See 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4. Romans 10: "9 If you confess the Lord Jesus with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart man believes in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13 For the one who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Salvation and forgiveness of sins is a blessing of all who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit immediately which seals us in Christ Ephesians 1:13-14. Those who reject salvation, "perish"(John 3:16) which means their sins are judged and suffer separation from God forever called the second death. Rev.21:8

Forgivi h her is what I made a conscious d cision to do in 2012 when le living in a shelter. This lady would harass me& God told me to forgive her. Ok God& by forgiving her,it released her to God.She came& apologized& says," I don't know why I was doing that." She left from that shelter and end d up at other one. I end d up there and guess who was first person that I saw! As time went by she obtained a job& I had befriend d to his lady named Mary. We were out riding and there was this Velencia waiting at bus stop to get back to shelter. I asked my friend if we could give her a rid back to shelter,so she wouldn't have to take the 2 buses back. I have other stories like this. If anyone has been hurt, traumatized, rejected,I want you to ask God to give you grace to forgive. He isn't some cruel God who expects us to forgive without providing us a way to do so! He doesn't require us to be doormats by allowing the same person to keep hurting us. He can give you strength to walk away, especially in toxic abusive relationships. He can be husband, provider, constant companion for the lonely.

Nobody addressed what the black woman said about the offense of racism and the fact that her husband can’t even take out the trash at night in their neighborhood.

You don’t know where people were at one time! I’m white and I love “comfortably,” but you don’t see that 20 years ago my dad was a mean man bound by alcohol, I was going to walk down his same path. I would have ended up dead or in jail if I wouldn’t have accepted Christ. I’m good friends with Mexicans, black kids play with my kids. We just went on a trip with a family who has black children. My white 8 year old daughter raised 4,000 dollars for her Nana’s orphanage in haiti for them to get new mattresses. I have been told some of the most hateful things by white people. It isn’t the color or your skin or what’s in your bank account, it’s who is the ruler of your soul, God or Satan. I wish people would look to God and treat everyone the same instead of acting like they are better than someone else- both black and white people. And every color in between.

@@hannbanan715 Great comment! I think we all, meaning Christians, can agree that Jesus’ words about the end times, that many will be offended, is true now more than ever - especially towards Christ followers and towards our views and beliefs. Color is not the only thing one can be discriminated against or offended in, but virtually anything and especially when we as believers swim completely against the stream of culture and the world as a whole. And I say that as an African woman. Maybe we shouldn’t be as quick to judge or attack a sister or brother in the Lord so quickly - the accuser of the brethren doesn’t need help with that. Besides, as Hann stated, we don’t know what people have been through, etc. Also, I suppose it speaks volumes that Laurie routinely has people of color on her show...Just a thought. I appreciate you, Hann, for being intentional about demonstrating an openness to diversity in front of your daughter who, in turn, obviously took a page out of your book. God bless you!

Isn't it ironic that Laurie Crouch nods her head consistently in agreement when Natalie Grant is talking about people gossiping BUT sits there like a mannequin when Janice Gaines is speaking about racism 🤔. Black people please wake up. Just because someone smiles in your face it doesn't mean they are your friends...not even Christian friends.
