She amazing! I resonated with her story. I cleaned homes during two pregnancies. I also survived domestic violence. Thanks Stephanie!

God bless you. I worked as a victim's advocate in a women's shelter and my days were consumed with trying to get attorneys to volunteer there services to victims of domestic violence, and trying to get District Attorney's to do there job and get Protective Orders for these women. I saw first hand how difficult it was for these women to get legal help. It usually took these women 6 times of separation from their abusers to finally break free and the judgement they suffered because of the attitudes in the system. I admired every single one of them who managed to leave and get a divorce.

Watching the Netflix series of Stephanie's story was difficult. A friend encouraged me to continue when I said I was thinking of not watching all of the series as I found it so depressing. Hearing Stephanie I am pleased for her and that she managed to get out. She's intelligent, thoughtful and an excellent communicator. She was fortunate to get out of that horrible situation, but what about those who are left. It motivates me to find ways to help. Thanks for the video. Cheers, David

Thank you for this …. Believe it or not some of us old white guys grew up in poverty….it can be frustrating when I hear my friends complain about someone getting assistance …. People who never had to worry about where their next meal was coming from has no clue what poverty is like…. Thank you for you book Thank both of you for this interview.

I agree William. Although I know there are people taking advantage of the system there are also many people that are working multiple jobs and still cant make ends meet. That just shouldn't happen!! It also doens't help when our government prints money and send it overseas when we have people here that we should be taken care of first.

Inspiring all the way. Good to know that fresh, original ideas -- i.e., a woman who escapes an abusive relationship, who comes from a privileged background but is now 'struggling' and, of course, that men are to blame -- are beig peddled to a nation of women who have heard the same narrative every day since 1970. Fantastic. And so original.

I am currently reading her book. I watched a few of the Netflix shows but it got depressing. I admire her spunk but when she ventures into politics and all that she loses me. It would be nice to have more government benefits but they have to be financed somehow and the government is already deeply in debt. I know the number of people on food stamps exploded during the Great Recession and, last I heard, it did not go down. I can relate to going through rough times, looking for work, resorting to food stamps. I processed a lot of WIC checks as a Walmart cashier and it was an awkward, picky system like she says.

I loved the movie and book and have all the respect in the world for you Stephanie. However please dont blame this on racism. You proved that poverty could be overcome and YES I 100 percent agree that people(OF ALL RACES) in poverty have the cards stacked against them especially with daycare and the ridiculous hoops that our screwed up welfare program require people to jump through. Our government should provide FREE daycare for low wage people instead of sending all this money overseas. Clearly getting people in the workforce who cant afford daycare is going to benefit all of us. Again you are an inspiration to all of us but please dont go woke its WAY beneath you.

She really milked system to the core. I am wondering what she has done so far for poor people after she becoming fish with book and Netflix deal. Has she donated all proceeds from those book sent to senators?

She worked SOME of the resources available to her she didn't go to food banks or soup kitchens and she stopped using wic coupons after being harassed for them

She created her book - got her education and is still speaking out on poverty and that is opening peoples eyes except yours! Some ppl just won’t get it - except when they lose their job, their homes and ppl say that’s only a paycheque away for most ppl!

Stephanie has a lot of ink on her. Shameful to have spent all of that money on tattoos instead of on more important things. If you are hurting financially, only spend money on food, rent, and medicine. If you are going to bars and getting tattoos, you are pathetic.
