Same with Chris Watts, Ashley Mcarthur, both last interrogatory phases watched before. Priceless. And here, it's even better due to "cold case" manner..even if all this time should have been absolutely terrible to endure with questions on suspens for the family and relatives. But it's like vengeance out of death for Sherri Rasmussen. Seeing her disgusting of waste of life killer being caught like that. Some of divine justice from outer world. And the best thing is also she sits thinking about something cool/important maybe shared to her as person of interest in her qualification (art rhief pretext), like she's someone we can make part or center of things (just to reinsure his ego) and on seconds following, adressing her "his name has been mentionned in some case", not precising "old", but on their way to shut down her mind completely one one single sentence, asking "have you ever heard name of John Ruetten"? At THIS early starting moment, she knew she was already caught by her past. And just the minute following, seeing her started rambling and tumbling on herself, what delight. And best moment of all, around 2:38/2:40 mark. When she repeated again, fumbling inside already "what this is about", and then they calmly replied "it's relative to.......his wife"..OUTCH. The little silence like air cut abruptly sentencing his way on his chest.

Has something happened to John? After further questions in the first 5 mins without any clarity ,she would have said, unless you explain why we are having this conversation, I do not wish to continue. Sometimes, when I’m having a bad day, I revisit this video and realize that I don’t have it that bad. Just imagine, she probably had plans the day this happened-a Friday, I think, but am not positive. Dinner with her family, maybe a beer with colleagues. Instead, she ended up in jail for a murder for which she had escaped justice for decades. For those interested in a deeper dive, I highly recommend the book that details this case, The Lazarus Files.

So true. - It was a Friday - because it was actually my birthday. June 5th 2009. - She commited 1st degree murder - then put it behind her and got on with her life - and probaly reached a settled stage in her life as a older person- where she would think twice before commiting murder now - and probaly hold back. The whole love triangle with her and John and her murdered rival she was all grown out of - she met a new guy and married. - Its s shame really - not only did she brutally snuff out a innocent womans life - she built a good life for herself - and could of enjoyed a good life - but she was guilty of 1st degree murder - and this was the day the Truth caught up with her - probaly the most unexpected day of her entire life.

I agree. If you read 'The Lazarus Files', it's very obvious that he used her (Stephanie). That by no means justifies what she did to Sherri, but I believe if he had not been a wimpy user of Stephanie, thing may have turned out differently. He should have just told her he was with Sherri and let that be the end of it. And he should have participated more in the investigation, in my humble opinion.

The few short moments she feigns thinking about a question she already knows the answer to entirely. It gives her a few brief moments of peace, away from the questioning and stress she is feeling at the moment. It may not seem like much but inside She's dying! The panic is eating her alive! If she stalls them for 20 seconds it's 20 seconds of no questioning, no interrogation, peace and gives her a few moments to gather herself. Her face gets more and more red with each passing moment. She gets more and more afraid. She rants and goes off subject to take herself away from the moment. To take a mental breath. It's awesome they recorded this for training new detectives on reading emotion and reaction to questioning. Fascinating.

Ruetten and Lazarus actually got back together in 1989 for a while. Ruetten called the Detective to make sure she wasn't a suspect before getting back together with her. Relationship Rule #1: If you wonder if your potential match killed your previous Spouse, move along. I bet Lazarus was so happy and thought her plan worked.
@loralieisa4 жыл бұрын
I am surprised she didn't do a better job of getting rid of evidence that could point to her guilt. I think she expected to be given a free pass indefinitely by her fellow officers. Sheri Rasmussen was an achiever that could have done much to benefit humanity,. She had some reservations about marrying Ruetten because of harassment from Lazarus. Ruetten didn't' do enough to protect her from his sick puppy on again off again girlfriend. He should have gotten nasty aggressive with her to make her realize it was over and he was done. Lazarus thought if she got rid of Sherri she would be next in line to become Mrs.Ruetten. Fast forward DNA evidence solved this cold case and she is in jail doing time for her crime.

Yea, that's true. I think also people talk too much bcuz they are usually talkative in their normal life with others.. In this case Stefani is very nervous and she goes on and on giving the detectives the impression that she has nothing to hide.. She thinks that if she tells them so much information that they will get pleased with the answers and forget to ask her more important questions.. She's that typical person who thinks she's smarter than anybody else and that she'll win this interrogation. I don't think she fears for the worse. I would be scared to death if I was in her place.. @kodyk.76493 жыл бұрын
She probably spent the first few years after the murder looking over her back every other second and after a while she buried it deep down and convinced herself that she deserved to walk free because she was young and immature and learned her lesson...or justified it some other way. After that she continued to try and forget about what she had done and at this point it had been long enough that she had lulled herself into a false sense of security. This interrogation blind sided her and had her scrambling because at this point she had probably believed for well over a decade and a half that it would never happen. WHOOPS!
