Who's Sorry Now? (the first was: As Long As I Live!): Sounds like Fats Waller was coming down from his place in Heaven to play a solo or two. Stephanie is so much "according" to Fats, in number two, Who's Sorry Now, f.ex., she plays some of the most famous Fats-solo, "Handful Of Keys" from 1929, as a part of the improvisation of the number! Fats would have been proud of her!

Because they're such a visual treat to watch, it's easy to forget that their music is also a treat for the ears.

That was an awesome performance. In a room that probably didn't have the best resonance. Living legend pianist Stephanie Trick & Paolo Alderighi.

Hi Jimmy, This constellation of the quartet was put together only for this particular gig without prerehearsal. This being said, these muscians are outstanding. Whenever any of them are in your neighborhood, be sure to be there!

Stephanie hits it on the money but isn't a polished pianist, while Paolo's classical touch is nice but it doesn't go with rag dance music.
@raymondbiller22576 жыл бұрын
Please elaborate as to why you think Stephanie isn't a polished pianist.
@freeqwerqwer6 жыл бұрын
Stephanie fingering chops are dry and choppy and lacks vitality in her tone. She also plays a tad fast in some renderings. Well, listen to the recordings of Jelly Roll Morton himself and you'll feel his ragtime swing which makes one want to stand up and dance. Stephanie also should start to sing to pick up attention. But Stephanie plays definitely more American than that Classical Paolo.
@raymondbiller22576 жыл бұрын
Well Fred, thanks for your opinion. It is amazing that with such poor techinque she has risen to the top of her field and is loved by practically everyone that isn't a Flintstone. And to compare her with her husband who plays an entirely different style of piano (Jazz vs. Stride) is like comparing apples to oranges.
@larrydewein50786 жыл бұрын
As a pianist myself, MyOpinion is Fred knows NOTHING about the piano, ragtime, or classical! These two are the very best and at the top of the skill needed to play ragtime or stride piano!! I think Fred has a tin ear!! LOL
