They were talking about girls instagrams and saying that this girl, clearly FaceTuned, was “super hot” and of course I ignored it and moved on because that’s their business, but then they saw a pic of another girl from their school who looked nice, but they said she was ugly and I went off on all of them. Not that I’m against that everyone should do what they want with their body damn it have woman fought to have that right I’m just over them lying about doing even fillers ... like we are suppose to believe Kylie Jenner just grew up with a giant ass and boobs .. also what people are missing is young skin vs older. Sassy C She was a true beauty but she also had cosmetic surgery as well as a professional hair and make up artist. I was a 90s teen and magazines were bad enough but now everyone seems to alter their looks. The problem is they then begin to believe they look like the altered pictures. I have avoided learning how to edit my photos as I know with my mental health it would be a bad idea. In the UK wr have reality stars who refuse to believe they look like unaltered paparazzi photos because they change their face their weight everything on their own photos. Suddenly you see a picture they didn't edit and they're 20lb heavier and look normal. Nothing wrong with that but for young girls they look up to these people and feel so depressed they don't look like that. You can even alter videos of yourself now I saw a video of James Charles where he had altered his face down to even his eyes.

Real talk, being an influencer must be JUST as frustrating if not more. Imagine having to purposely look for flaws on your face and body and then face tune it to perfection. All those compliments in the comments must feel weird because you know that's *not* what you really look like.
@Trashley74474 жыл бұрын
Very true. I stopped wearing makeup because i had a couple people compliment me saying i had such nice skin, when really i had just become really good at makeup that looked pretty natural from a distance. I feel much more confident now that i’m comfortable showing my acne and hyperpigmentation and i can feel pretty without feeling like i have to hide my skin. I can’t imagine it being healthy for an influencer to be getting compliments on an altered version of themselves to the point where they feel they have to constantly keep that image up and feel that the ‘real’ them isn’t good enough.

I’m a chronically ill person who doesn’t look “sick” but people don’t realise it takes me days rest to prepare for an outing and they are very rare these days, I need all day to do my hair and make up because I need to stop and start due to pain and I spent the entire time pretending I’m not feeling like my body is on fire and I need to lay down. Getting sick really humbled me though, it makes you see things differently. I hope you have more good days then bad and some extra spoons 💖💖

I stopped wearing makeup two years ago, and it has boosted my confidence so much. I realised I was hiding my beauty behind a mask of insecurities. Also, not worrying what I look like in public is really freeing. I never got compliments when I was wearing makeup (only ig) but now people tell me I'm beautiful all the time. I think it has to do with being more confident and comfortable in my own skin + more approachable. I have realised that the most beautiful feature is a real smile, whether the teeth a perfect or not. I understand that makeup is an artform for many but it looses its purpose when you have to wear a full face of makeup everytime you leave the house. The society needs to understand that true beauty comes from within. The advertisements are constantly telling us, that we, as women, have to fix this and that and there seems to be a solution for everything. The truth is, we don't need to fix anything but our mindset. When you are content in your own skin and take care of yourself inside and out (whether you wear makeup or not) , you are a danger to the beauty industry because they make money off peoples insecurities. I dont know if my comment makes sense to you. I'm just really happy with myself and I wish I could share it with everyone. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful, confident and able. I wish you will have a great day❤️

So many more beauty influencers should show their imperfections like this. THIS IS WHAT HUMANS LOOK LIKE!! Modern beauty standards have really clouded women and pressured us to constantly criticize ourselves and our self image. You have this body for the rest of your life, don’t waste all that time hating it!!!

I think comparing yourself to others is a normal part of figuring out your identity in middle school and high school but now that we've gotten to the stage that regular people are editing and adjusting their face and bodies, it's a more toxic environment. At least looking in magazine or on websites 10 years ago, the people were usually famous so there were steps of separation.

KirstenGlae Parker Luckily I already had that attitude to myself at age 15. Though I had some pimples back then, a pretty asymmetrical face, even different eye sizes and slighthly crooked teeth. It still looked really cute. All this would have looked botched and unnatural if I ever had the desire to change smth. Real man like natural beauty. Of course I do use a little bit of make up to enhance some features, but very subtle and I never hated smth about my “natural” features. I find all the young influencers that have obvious things done like lip and cheek and chin fillers bu** ugly. This overdone contouring and highlighting and skin tanning. These broad, black painted on eyebrow “logs”. Truly horrifying. Totally void of any personality and glow and happiness. I just don’t get it.

Why. Like why make this so normal? Why make it normal to take a billion pictures to get 1? Why make it normal to have photo editing apps? Why can’t we all just start posting pictures of us that actually look like us

Tbh this has made me feel so much better. I haven’t posted a pic of myself on Instagram or anything else for about 6 months, I post pics of my kids and hubby but I feel like I’m held to a higher standard than they are. I can’t just post a pic of me and the kids just hanging out at the park or something without someone saying something, last time it was something about letting myself go. And I’m not even an influencer so god forbid if they post a bad pic...ohh the hate

genuine, down to earth as always :-) an interview of a female golfer changed my view of ‘beauty’ for me. She had some thiccccccc thighs being a professional and very talented golfer. And she was asked wasn’t she ashamed of her thighs cuz she clearly wouldn’t be able to ‘fit in’ girly outfits. She answered, “I’m an athlete. I try my best to stay in the shape I need that could get me great game plays and scores. Being pretty isn’t what I do for living. That’s not my job.There r ppl who are paid to be beautiful, so if ppl want some eye candy look for someone else. There’re a lot out there.” It blew my mind and I keep it to my heart to this day. Those ppl who make their living looking great will spend that much time, money and effort to keep themselves employeed. Those who don’t hav such occupations,, don’t need to. It’d be great to realized this early on in life. Once it soaks in, it’ll help especially young girls and women to focus on sth that’s related and useful to them.

I grew up in a time before photo editing, selfies & social media.....I’d go back in a second if I could. I’ve seen the impact of what all this has done to marriages, teens & society as a whole.... very destructive indeed.

This is such an important video for everyone struggling with anxiety with their looks. I get really down sometimes about it. I really admire embracing imperfections and looking like a human. This should totally become a big thing! Sometimes the "prettiest" people are the most insecure. "looking like a human" is nothing to be embarrassed about xxxxx

I used to be so avidly active on instagram. I constantly posted, looked at posts, videos and sought out makeup tutorials. It was sudden but some time 2 years ago i woke up and just didnt feel the need to go on the app. From there what was once apart of my daily routine turned into a weekly to monthly and nowadays its super rare for me to go on at all. Ever since then ive honestly never felt happier about myself. I began looking more at the actual people around me. Accepting my "flaws", realising whats normal and learning to love myself. Frankly ive never been happier ☺

This pandemic has made me realize how little I really need makeup. I still LOVE makeup - don't get me wrong - but since my trips out are so quick I just don't wear it. It's made me more comfy in my skin. Acne, wrinkles, ungroomed eyebrows & all. I've never been one to heavily edit my photos but I did like to go in with some contrast & highlight to brighten & sharpen up a pic. Plus I'm pretty sure my Instagram is filled with mostly pics of my animals & my kid lol. Throw in a selfie every few months for posterity 😂

The influencer issue goes so deep. I've struggled with ANA since I was 8. At this point, obviously the fake body images can be triggering, but what gets me harder is the productivity image. Influencers package themselves as beautiful, productive, healthy, and balanced. Many with an ED have issues separating productivity, body image, and self worth. When I see these super perfected influencer lifestyles I feel lazy and ugly automatically in this snowball of emotional flagellation. I'm working on it. Weirdly enough GirlBoss weight loss and energy shakes were the ad on this video. 😳
