Ive always been an empath and a people pleaser. Blessing and curse. Recently i have been involved with a very toxic manipulative person and its been awful. I realised i needed to change my approach to these people and to work on myself its so difficult but i am much more aware now amd im starting to set boundaries and putting myself first and loving myself for once. Its taken me nearly 40 years to realise this! if you loveve yourself know who you are and are comfortable in your skin you'll attract the right people in your life the ones you deserve. Accept yourself first You shouldn't need to have to be accepted by others if they don't they shouldn't be in your life. Life lessons kids should be taught this stuff! Malignant Narcissists hunt for, search out, manipulate, and try to destroy empths like us..... I'm 58, have wasted too much time and energy dealing with those types. No more.

Exactly!! Nearly 58 here...who knew that self love meant that! Especially if we were never taught if you came from pack of narcs that you love because their family et al (which is the crux of my own hard re-wiring of past 5 decades) BUT their actions and behaviour are painful and damaging and real hell. Not a great role model for foundations to find partner out there.

Stephanie Lyn Coaching Thank you again, for so much! I was scared when you started to say "people who spend time alone.." because I spend most - almost all - of my time alone - well, with my rescued little dogs that is.! So I was so glad to know I am healthy on my own, so long as I love myself! Just recently I was attacked by a neighbour (I was trying to help her) and it has had a very bad effect on me, but just afterwards, on my YT page, was your video about Projection and it described exactly what she did in anger ! Now I am learning from you with this video. I am so grateful to you Stephanie, you are a truly good person. I send my Granny-love from here in the UK, to you and your family. (P.S. the photo isn't me! it's an actress I admired, now deceased, who played Agatha Christi's "Miss Marple" the quaint and very clever old lady detective. I wish I could be like her!)

I’m going through a self healing journey but the hardest thing about it is not knowing what healthy thoughts/emotions/actions etc actually are. It makes me doubt or question myself when it comes to standing up for myself or putting myself first around the people I know. Sometimes I feel like I’m a bad person for trying to get my needs met. I was brought up in a very unhealthy environment and was never taught what you are teaching the world. If it wasn’t for videos like these and people like you on KZbin I wouldn’t know there was another way to live and continued my life in a environment that was unsafe/unhealthy for me but also my comfort zone because that’s all I’ve known. Thank you for showing me there is another way and because of that I feel more at peace in my inner self.

So we've got 7 or 8 according to another commenter, but she says she's giving us 12.
@coppersense9996 жыл бұрын
6:00 This comment relates to semantics, her core message is on point. But for me, when my inner critic or she says wounded self isn't supportive, my first reaction is anger. I think her language naturally echoes that reaction. But the challenge for me (that she obviously has mastered if her calm, non-hostile tone is any indication) is to forgive the wounded self and NOT just shut it up. There is a good go-to phrase I heard somewhere that is a quick fix to both shut down the negative voice while respectfully acknowledging its purpose, maybe so it won't come back. I forget, something like: "Thanks, I know you mean well, but I -- whatever, actually love my healthy body, or can do this with confidence, or believe that I am no better or worse than anyone else, and I expect a great outcome, or at worst a learning experience that will create great results next time. But thanks for trying to protect me from getting hurt. That was a long time ago, and I got this now" etc.

The things you say are just so fantastic, enlightening and fantastic! Actually, I have a lot of self love, but it gets threatened when I am in a close romantic relationship with someone who does not react to me as I hope they will.. mind you, when I start such a relationship, I loose very fast my self confidence feeling threatened by a possible rejection or that I cannot live up to their expectations, and I realise now, that I simply fall back into my relationship with my mum who was abusive and never made me feel loved or accepted, always correcting, fixing, wanting something else than I gave. The fear of this makes me behave like I behaved towards her.. trying to live op to her demands.. failing. and the funny thing is, that this provokes a negative cycle, confusing the other person about my boundaries, actually, behaving that way I tell the other person that I do not believe I am good enough which causes an escalating negative game. At the same time, while being in it, as I basically am a happy person and cherish and value myself, I start an internal fight between the unloved child and the self loving and conscious adult. And everything gets very messy.. 😂😂🤸♂️🧚♀️🌞 because the child’s instinctive reactions often take over. Actually, as it is now, unless the other person totally behaves as I expect ..and confirms me for good enough all the time ..l I get in that place. So, My problem lies within myself and only I can solve it by not depending of MY need to be confirmed as worthy. In my mind I know I am worthy, but under some circumstances my old feelings take over and just replay the old game from childhood. This is so 😝 crazy! I hope, that understanding my own game, will support me in keeping ,my confidence. Still, I have been able from time to time, to set boundaries in a good way and, to my surprise, every time, I was met in a positive way. So ... time will show how this developes , right now, I just have to focus on separating the past game from the present and meet myself and the person in the present. I am curious to see what will happen, I definitely believe it is worth giving it a try. You are right, it is all about ourselves. It is as if we build our own drama in life when it comes to relationships.. emotions. I mean, life can be hard enough ... illness, accidents, war, even loosing job (ex. Under the crisis) etc.etc. Come from the outside and we cannot always do something about those things.. but how we handle these things and how we manage our emotions and relations and mainly ourselves.. that is on us. Thank you for you very enlightening inputs. I like very much that it is not about the other person but about ourselves.. I mean, if we accept being treated badly, why do we accept it! Having written this, I do not expect things to change from one moment to the other, maybe it will end with nothing, but I wish to give it a chance. I am too curious about life and people and myself and it all, not to try. Ps: my mum was admired by everybody, giving this polished perfect presentation of herself to the world, the abusive things were secret.. i knew she was wrong but the world told me I was wrong.l luckily I felt accepted and loved by my dad, but he was very much absent, and his love was very distant .. he was a cold and distant, very self absorbed person. After their death (also happened in my childhood), i always said that she would have destroyed me totally if he had not been there. Mind you, after he died, she became a bit more human/relaxed. So... maybe she had a similar problem to mine.. 🤗🌞😀 . I wonder whether all this makes any sense to others? Have a great day

👍💖 Well this clarified quite a lot of the difficulties with building self-love. I do practice a lot of self-care aspects but the emotional key is the big challenge. Like you say, if I can love and care for others but not be equally considerate, accepting, and forgiving of my own flaws then this is the work (or play) to be practiced.

Thanks! Wonderful stuff! So I have learned the hard way on most of the stuff your talking about, Life can be difficult as we all know. Celebrating good things in our life is very good advise but also we must celebrate the hardship and trials because this is when we truly grow. After one particular hardship I remember looking only at the closed door in front of me, instead of the doors that where opening around me. Now however I have learned that pain is essential for physical and mental growth but misery is optional. I now look at trials as an opportunity to grow and find myself no longer staring at closed doors.
