Back in the 1960s, I built a harmonograph from scrap items that I found in an engineering workshop. I had no idea that they had ever been commercially available. Thank you!

Not all adults know what a Foucault pendulum is, and what it demonstrates. What can we say about children! Let's understand, especially since there are a lot of Foucault pendulums all over the world - more than a hundred. Leon Foucault, a French astronomer, physicist, and mechanic, was already a well-known scientist during his lifetime. On the night of January 8, 1851, Foucault, in the basement of his Paris home, first carried out the experiment that was later named after him. It was a pendulum-a weight suspended from a two-meter-long wire. By making the pendulum swing, Foucault saw that the experiment was a success: the nature of the oscillations clearly showed that the Earth was rotating. A couple of months later, Foucault publicly demonstrated his experience by extending the wire to 67 meters and attaching a weight of 28 kilograms to it. For the purity of the experiment and the exclusion of the human factor, the load set aside was first held with a tied thread, and then it was burned with a flame.

Magnificent as always! I really like the presentation case; is the 'Harmograph' label 3-D printed? Cheers Stephan and I hope you are very well (and having better weather than we are.)
