Steph, could you ask Aisha how hard is it being a muslim in Japan?, like what does she do for food (finding halal food to eat) and how much of traditional japanese food can she not eat due to some of the ingredients (i.e alcohol, pork)

Actually, we use a lot of alcohol for cooking. my muslim friend was studying in Japan and eating a lot of Japanese cuisines. I could not say the most favorite foods of his contained alcohol in them.

I'm half Chinese and half Filipino and I can sorta relate to you guys, especially now that I live in foreign countries for long periods of time. I was in Japan last year and I am trying to learn Japanese and Physically I can pass as a Japanese so people also looked at me like I'm stupid when I spoke broken Japanese in Japan. My teacher said my Japanese accent is quite good and when I speak Japanese properly, the locals sometimes think I'm Japansese and start to talk to me very fast as though I am a local. I couldn't understand them and they they looked at me like I'm stupid so I often just tried to speak with a strong foreign accent deliberately so they know I am a foreigner and talk more slowly.

Iam german having a japanese girlfriend and she moves to my place in germany soon. It is quite funny to imagine that our future children will deal with similar topics and situations. But i have a question regarding this topic: Where do you think kids have a "better" time growing up? In a western country or in japan? Because I do consider moving to japan with her depending on how much she likes or dislikes germany, but I get the impression that life is more stressful for kids and teenagers in japan compared to western countries.

Why? Your dad got married with a Japanese woman. And your mother side grandpa didn't like his daughter getting married with a Korean guy, but now accepted it. Then why does your dad want you to get married with a Korean guy only? Well, I guess some people become more conservative as they get older, and the identity issue that he experienced abroad may have influence his ideas. Generally speaking, dads feel conservative when it comes to their daughters' marriage. And Steph's dad wants his daughters think Korean men are best :)
@ohdaUtube4 жыл бұрын
There are differences between the two. If you think globally, Korean men tend to do better. There are certain aspects where this makes sense.

The problem with me is people often confuse me for being latino or something😂 but when they see me and my mom it makes more sense to them. thats kinda the thing that i dont like about being hafu or mixed in general is the fact that people mistake your looks and they feel like thats the truth untill they see your parents. Also the family thing is really hard. we lost contact also almost completely because they didnt like her with a european guy

I always have those feelings as well. I am not half, but born and raised in America with a Taiwan origin. I have mix feelings of my multi-identities while explaining to Japanese people and other Asian countries of where I from. Currently I live in Tokyo, and sometimes felt left alone, but I take it for granted because I earn more views of things and life in general. This also goes same to American born japanese singer Utada Hikaru, who talked about her inner side of this common things we have. Thanks for sharing these inner thoughts, I just subscribed your channel, please make it more!

The number one thing that's ever gotten me sad about being half Japanese is that whenever I visit my mom's side of the family in Japan, I get stared at a lot by older aged people like grandma's and grandpas. For example, if we go out to eat they'll be staring at me and I get it, it's the country side and you don't really see a lot of foreigners but it's just really embarrassing and uncomfortable you know? Also, I always feel like I'm an outkast? Like even though I'm half Japanese, can speak the language, etc. they don't look at me as one if that makes any sense? It makes me feel sad at times I don't know.
