I'm happy for Sam Arnold and from MN, so I'm enjoying every part of this. That said, "fantastic" is not an adequate description. He's almost singlehandedly lost some games for us (primarily not protecting the ball and trying to keep plays alive when he shouldn't) and though he's been more than serviceable and usually fairly good, he hasn't been anywhere near an elite level QB after the first 5 games of the season. I do like him though and enjoy seeing him do well. I have zero issues with this move other than that the Vikes don't have an elite QB period. Darnold will likely get paid a bunch of money at the end of the season and the Vikes will probably lose McCarthy soon after. And Jones isn't ever going to be great. It's kind of the revolving door MN's been doing with their QBs forever. But good for Darnold and for the price, this is hard to beat with Jones as a backup.

@ so was Jamarcus Russell. It isn’t a perfect science. Sometimes teams get it wrong. Jones’ body of work is sufficient to determine at this point he is trash. There are a lot of “ifs” : if he does this, does that…etc. Point is there has been nearly 5 years of evidence and there are still people trying to give these below average mediocre white quarterbacks a pass every time. He sucks. Russell Wilson was literally an MVP caliber Super Bowl winning quarterback, had a bad season and everyone was literally ready to write him off as washed, but Jones has “potential “? Its definitely not worthy of being classified as Breaking News to Stephen A's point but there is no question that this does improve the Vikings depth at the Quarterback position if something were to happen to Sam Darnold. Daniel Jones is way better than Nick Mullens which I know isnt saying much but the Vikings have the most Quarterback friendly offense in Football.. Kevin O' Connell has proven to be among the Elite of Elite coaches in the NFL.

Okay Darnold has played good this year, which for his standards is a resurgence but let’s not get all that hung up in how good he’s played. The Vikings have scored 274 points this year, the Cowboys on a back up QB, with no WRs other than Lamb, and virtually no running attack have scored 221 points this year. So yes Darnold has been good this year but let’s not sit here and give him and the offense credit for their record when their defense is absolutely amazing

Why not though? That offense still had to go through a gauntlet of pre season playoff-contending teams and still was able to put up scores. Darnold is playing at top 10 level. Defense is definitely playing a big role, but its not like the offense isn't pulling its weight.
