It's not exactly about how well other people have done it, it's about how hard is it to do what they did. So even with Carolina, cam newton had a legendary career and only got them to the SB one time because they didn't surround him with elite weapons like a lot of other QBs had. To use a different example, let's say someone climbed the tallest mountain, but no one climbed the 2nd tallest mountain. That doesn't necessarily mean the 2nd is harder, it just means it hasn't been done. The Panthers would be the taller mountain in this example.

While it’s fair to hold him accountable for his errors, the feedback is usually disproportionate to his actual performance. If Mahomes drops 40 on the Raiders, it’s all ooh, and ahh. But if Dak drops 40 on the Giants, it’s all “Well, it’s the Giants.”.
