Lost my Mom in March, I’m an only Child, this song, Movie, and songs from this period of time bring me back to being a little boy with my Mom beside me vibrant, healthy, and Beautiful…. This song came on the radio about an hr ago, and took me right back to that time, that feeling….. was driving alone and it hit me like a ton of bricks…. I’m 43, and with my own family, but certain moments alone I’m a little boy crying for his Mommy…. She was the most warm, Gentle, Loving mother that loved me more than anything! It’s bittersweet to close eyes and listen to songs like this that take you back to a time/ a Feeling that feels warm…..and then you open your eyes and realize

This song continues to kill me emotionally. Due to my immaturity and self-doubt, when I married in 1981 I questioned whether or not I made the right decision. When this film came out, we were living in Florence, Alabama, and by this time I had begun to appreciate my young wife. This song made me cry back then. Whenever I hear this song, it is 1982 again (at least in my memory and imagination), and I am waiting for my dad as he gets ready to teach at community college. I was 9 years old back then, and now I wonder if my dad, who is now almost 80, remembers. It was a difficult relationship, especially since my dad suffered from anxiety/depression and alcoholism. As an adult and almost 40 years later, I understand my dad as a person, and it is easier to forgive his verbal and emotional fury. I only hope that my dad, who now struggles with memory loss, remembers me, and I hope that I made him proud.

'86 here Yeah. The idea of a film involving cross dressing TODAY would be this insane hot button topic where twitter would self destruct with people shouting about sexism and inaccurate representation or even ethnicity. No place in the universe is, was or ever will be perfect but right here right now... I'm still glad to live in the Republic of USA. Even with all the social media stupidity. At least we were able to produce movies like Tootsie and Mrs. Doubtfire without having riots at the time... even if that might be a miracle today.

I met Dustin Hoffman briefly outside an awards gala. He walked up and down the crowd shaking hands and thanking his fans. His wife was beckoning him to say hi and head inside since they came a bit late. Other celebrities turned up their noses and walked inside. He muttered something to her and kept greeting the crowd. I reached out through the crowd because he is one of my favorite actors. He saw me, reached back, shook my hand and said it is nice to meet you - I said thank you Mr. Hoffman and he was gone. What a great man!

It was definitely a much better time to be a teenager. Songs and movies like this bring back many fond memories. The key is to merely cherish the moment you're in, when you're in it. Love the one standing in front of you and realize these are the memories you're making. Make them worthy.

This is my "go to" song. Anytime. At work. At home. In the middle of the day. Night. And I'd laugh and cry at the same time.

This song hits to the core. I know who I am and I know who he is! Makes me tear up when I hear this track, but also Anger because he pushed me away!
