Travel Man

Күн бұрын

The show that started it all. Before Richard became the Gadget Man and then Travel Man, Stephen Fry was the man in charge. Made way back in 2012 for Channel 4, and uploaded onto the Travel Man channel for the first time. Some of the tech might be a bit dated but it's still an enjoyable watch!
#GadgetMan #StephenFry
The official destination (see what we did there) for all things Travel Man, where Richard Ayoade takes a ruthless approach to getting the maximum from a city break...Every week we'll be posting the best clips and compilations from the series.

I love any and all shows you do. V the movie you played in was a very great show. But anyway, you had guest over for dinner I’m guessing and the first thing I seen y’all do was take a straw and inhale some vapor that was in this little glass container. Would you please let me know the name of it and where I can find one. I’d be so appreciated if you please send me this information. That’s the best dinner I’ve ever seen made with the gadgets around your home. Thanks again for all your hard work to make us laugh. Your friend and fan , John.

It's pretty remarkable actually but the Xbox Kinnect has actually been used for lots of other random projects! Even though it was a littel ehh.. lackluster in terms of using it for gaming, the array of sensors in it are actually great for other applications, and it's all in a cheap and complete package, and has the highly compatible and versatile USB port on it so you can plug it into almost any device and program it for whatever you want! It's pretty cool! It's not the first time I've seen protoype projects using a Kinnect haha

The yike bike is brobably the worst bike design. No handle bar in the front means nothing between your body and whatever you crash into. You can't bail by hopping off or standing up, because the handle bars will take you out as the bike continues to roll forward after you have stopped.

Gosh, Alan Sugar is so dislikeable! His salt about Apple basically putting him out of business in multiple tech industries seems to be real, he's smiling like he's joking, but the way he wouldn't let Stephen get a word in about the iPhone 4 antenna problem, man is still upset about it! But also he seems to not know how his OWN tech products work, if you asked him to drive any of those devices in his archives I doubt he'd actually know how to turn them on even... Also he straight up lied about the Youview box, making out like it's the first TV box that would let you watch passed programs, it seems like legally the producers had to add a correction in voice over, hence Stephen saying in the voice over "Virgin TV boxes have been able to do this for a while already, and you still have to pay upfront fees for Youview" so actually Amstrad weren't the first, and it's not actually free at all... Funny how Amstrad basically doesn't exist anymore because they ultimately flopped... They were clinging on through the early 2000s with TV boxes, but even those are only a relic of the passed nowadays because of how ubiquitous smart TV's are, with Firesticks, Apple TV's, Chromecast, and even bulit in Smart TV functionality directly in basically all modern TVs...

@55m wow windows phone, that doesn't date this at all. I don't think Nokia is even in business anymore. Nor were they the second largest phone manufacturer at the time since I'm pretty sure Apple had them beat with Samsung being a close second. Whoever was third barely had 6% market share worldwide

I don't blame people for losing touch it's just annoying to me that some people try so hard to appear like they are still congruent with their working class backgrounds when their massive wealth and power removed them from it 20 plus years prior.

@@Owdaks Are they not made out of steel that can be melted down? I don't understand in what way they are unrecyclable? I'm no expert at all I would just like some elaboration. Also what is the lifespan of a wind turbine, surely the tower will continue to be structurally sound pretty much indefinitely with good maintenance? I understand there would be sort of twisting forces but couldn't you just leave the tower and replace the blades and the turbine? Can someone please explain this to me please? I am not looking to antagonise as the rest of you seem to be and if I get a shitty reaction I will just go and look myself. It just seems like you guys are such experts to the point of saying things like 'stop being blind'. Edit: Ok I don't need you guys now, the very article stated says 85 per cent of turbine components can be recycled it's just the old fiberglass blades. Also a company can recycle them into building materials. With better materials they will have a longer lifespan and will not need to be replaced as often. In the future maybe you should read the things you post as reinforcement of your argument.
