Looking at the list of writers who worked on Spitting Image, there's some major names. Ben Elton, Grant & Naylor, and Richard Curtis jump out to me personally, though I'm sure there's a lot more noteworthy ones if you are British.

I've read a while ago that allegedly he was offered the honour of Knighthood, but he'd declined it because he didn't feel like he needed it/or that it was so important to him (even though he appears to be friendly with the Royals and is a supporter of the Constitutional Monarchy) or something like that.

Stephen's vocal impression of Prince Charles is SO GOOD! You do have to listen for it because he throws it away like it was nothing at all...I guess in addition to all his other gifts - mimicry is simply something that comes naturally to him. I'm a big fan.

I love Stephen Fry and I actually got chills when he mentions Diana and the effect it had on the audience. I was in 5th Grade when she passed and our teacher called us in to talk about her, I'm from the USA as well and we just spent the whole morning kind of grieving for her. ANYWAY lol, Stephen is one of the people I would love to meet but I'm sure I'd feel a fool around him lol

It's been nearly 30 years and we're still fascinated by Diana, and she was just being mentioned on an old anecdote. Old and young people. Most millennials were just kids when she passed away. What a remarkable woman.

I could listen to his stories for hours. He’s had so many incredible life experiences and met so many incredible people there wouldn’t be a boring moment. His ability to paint a picture with words is second-to-none; even Robert Duvall and RDJ were hanging on every word. What a treasure.

no one will ever beat this story, imo. princess diana & the prince of wales showing up at your tea party is something extraordinary. also, i think, most royals don't have many friends because of their status so they remember if someone invites them for a tea or something. this is actually a very nice story

Stephen Fry and Bill Bailey are a few of those few people I could listen to for hours and enjoy in entertainment, but couldn't bear to meet. Their charm and intelligence seem so constant. I know they're probably just like one of us, but damn - I couldn't hold a candle in any conversation if they were famous or not. How do celebrities even handle being celebrities? Anonymity is so much more peaceful.

I have installed Stephen's TV, and dishwasher (albeit about 30 years ago), and he is just the nicest, most down to earth person. He was quite taken by the fact my friends re-enact his part as Dr De Quincy, in 'Happy families" (85) He also put King's Lynn, on the map, in a sketch with hugh, about a police reception, where Hugh's address is in King's Lynn .....oh just go find it on KZbin, it's funny as.
