Stephen Graham is a brilliant actor. He acquired his gangster voice flawlessly for BOARDWALK as well as for his portrayal of Baby Face Nelson in the film "PUBLIC ENEMIES" starring Johnny Depp (another brilliant actor). I also enjoyed Graham in "TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY." He can do anything. 😊

This guy is from Liverpool, England. For Stephen to pull off a Brooklyn-Chicago accent is incredible! However, my wife is from Birkenhead (just outside Liverpool) and Brooklyn does share a similar vernacular. We both say "youse" and have some of the same pronunciation with many words. Okay, the accent is quite different, obviously. But it does have many similarities to one another.

I am TALKING about the fact that he speaks italian (italian language, subtitles in english) here and there in some episodes...he tries at least,cause his italian (dialect sometimes) isn't definitely the most accurate...sometimes it just doesn't make sense, some kind of mixture of spanish,italian and french (like series2episode2 when he's received by Angela Darmody who on the contrary speaks a perfect Italian)...the whole discussione was about italian and dialect...his brooklyn accent is perfect.

Hes scouse witch is a Irish and English mix. Most scousers have more irish than english blood, including myself. Even the football (soccer) teams have a huge irish following. Liverpool isnt like London, Manchester, Birmingham were you can understand every word they say because of the irish accent taking over are speach.

Well said. Just as there is no one standard English accent, there is no one standard Scottish accent ( Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow eg, all very different ), and Weish ( Cardiff and Swansea quite different ). I think the Americans think we all speak like Hugh Grant.
