Rubbish, the best is ronnie by a mile , playing like a robot might appeal to some but for the masses its having that bit of style ,charisma ,personality . Yes hendry can hold is own without a doubt but nothing compared to ronnie , hendry even said that ronnie is the G.O.A.T

Charlie Robert your entitled to your opinion I too rate Ronnie very high! Stephen had class and sportsmanship to go with his talent whereas Ronnie would lose it at times but it makes for great entertainment I get that. All depends what you like Both are greats And GOATS

@@charlierobert3571 I too am a Ronnie fan, but you cant compare Ronnie and Stephen. They dominated different eras, Stephen dominated the 90s completely, nobody could touch him. Not even Ronnie at that time but Ronnie is the most naturally gifted player.

@@charlierobert3571 Ronnie has never scored 7 centuries in a match, Hendry did it in a best of 19 match with 6 centuries in 8 frames at one point. Hendry has 7 world titles to Ronnie's 6. Hendry has won the triple crown in a single season twice, Ronnie hasn't even done it once. Hendry achieved 7 world titles in 10 years, Ronnie's best in the same time frame is 4. Hendry once won 5 consecutive ranking titles, Ronnie's best is just two in a row. Hendry has scored 16 centuries in a single tournament, Ronnie's best is 13.Ronnie has only one more ranking title than Hendry and plays in an era where there are 20 ranking tournaments per season. In Hendry's prime there were 8 in a season. Hendry is still the youngest player to ever win the world championship. @RickTheRedBrick, we are talking about shots made in big important tournament like WSC, that's a pressure shot. Not some doctor Martin shoes tournament. There's a difference. Shots attempted by this guy, he has no pressure at all is just attempt to do shots in how many times that's all. Black ball for 147 thousand pounds. Try it genius.
@sdrtcacgnrjrc
@sdrtcacgnrjrc 3 жыл бұрын
@RickTheRedBrick yeah, Hendry simply wasn't a spectacular shot-taker. Yet only Ronnie compares to him in terms of a (successful) no-reverse-gear approach to play. Trump is one of the most spectacular shot takers of all time. What age is he now? He's only recently reached the level of consistency and self-belief that Hendry already had as a teenager.

I think it’s probably a mix of a few things for Hendry. I don’t think it has much to do with ROS going for records, he’s been retired 8 years and seen quite a few of his records go already without attempting a come back. He must be enjoying his snooker again after the seniors. He said his main reason for retiring in the first place was the fact he didn’t enjoy smaller venues/competitions. That must have changed. I also think ROS comments about the lack of quality lower down the ranks may have rang a bell for him, he might be coming out with the “I’m just enjoying it and seeing where it goes line” but at the end of the day he was one of the most ruthless and competitive players ever to play. He won’t be coming back just to make up the numbers, he must fancy his chances.

If he's enjoying his snooker. That means he knows he's playing well. You don't enjoy being bad. A hendry playing well wins tournaments.

Well whatever may be the reason for Stephen Hendrys return but the snooker scenario will be much better with his presence. Stephen Hendry had a dry spell from 2004 to 2012 before he retired let’s hope he wins some this time round.

@@glyntaylor-williams3593 It's not about winning everything for Hendry now that ship has sailed a long time ago obviously, but he will want to compete and win matches here and there and earn some money on the side, not that he needs it lol..I've played the game competitively for 30 years myself so I kind of know where he's at right now..

In my opinion Hendry is the the best all round, Ronnie is the most talented player I have ever seen and I'm forever grateful for him playing the sport but the way Hendry went about all his big matches and the fact he won 7 World Titles in a single decade makes him the greatest in my eyes. Best of luck to him in his return!
@michaeltrumph121
@michaeltrumph121 4 жыл бұрын
_In my opinion Hendry is the the best all round_ That statement right there shows you're clueless about snooker and cue sports in general. The likes of O'Sullivan and Higgins are clearly far better all round players than Hendry. So are Davis and Selby. Hendry was never an all round player. He was a brilliant potter and breakbuilder, but his safety and tactical play were average at best. _the fact he won 7 World Titles in a single decade makes him the greatest in my eyes_ Or it might have something to do with him facing weak opposition. The mentally weak Jimmy White gifted Hendry 2 world titles, in 92 and 94. The fact that it was weak opposition is proven by the fact that Hendry could only win a single major title after the age of 27.
@xAlexHDx1
@xAlexHDx1 4 жыл бұрын
@@michaeltrumph121 Hendry lacked safety but that wasn't his objective, once he got an opportunity he went for it and used his excellent break building skills to full affect. Sure Higgins, O'Sullivan, Davis, Selby and Reardon are better tacticans but you are forgetting that Hendry suffered with the yips and his cue breaking after his 7th world title win which affected his game to the point he had to hang it up. If I had to choose which player to play a single frame of Snooker for my life it would be Hendry, Sure Jimmy didn't have the best bottle but he got the pressure piled on him with Hendry winning frame after frame. Thanks for calling me clueless at Snooker, gonna cry in the corner now haha.

Hendry is a fantastic player. Any records don't really matter because he will always be considered among the greatest - we are lucky in that all of the major matches are recorded so we can see his amazing skill. As others have noted, he probably saw that an older player like Ronnie O'Sullivan can still compete and have a lot of fun.

Great video as always. And great choices for the shots. For me the Blue along the rail with the rest is the best. And a crazy one to take on. Not many players even today who would take that on. But for sheer context id say the black for the 147 is right up there. I remember hiding behind the sofa when watching that live. And also that i wouldnt even be able to hold the cue let alone play a shot with it. Barry - south Wales

There's one exhibition shot I always enjoy playing. Cue ball about 8 inches from brown ball about a 135 degree angle. Brown off the spot with check side so it hits far cushion comes back across the table hits near cushion then the side turns into running side and lands on the blue. I swear hendry played that shot a few times.

I might suggest adding some kinda pressure to be more realistic, say as an example you could have made yourself lose £1000 for missing that cut back black first time on the 147, and/or other possible suggestions to recreate the context of importance?

Stephen was a machine. His mentality on flashy shots was probably something like "if you have to play flashy, it's probably because you ran out of position". He had a way of simplifying the frame into just, consistent potting and pure break building. It's not a surprise that his 'best of' reel is a little pedestrian visually, and more about trusting his potting and making it happen.

Shady, I see some nay sayers in the comments about your recreation shots. Many are doubting the attempt counts. I however believe you and I'd like to propose you do a live stream if possible of some of these shots. Granted there would be added pressure but it would be fun and using your table, I know that you have learned the pace of it. Anyway, I think you did amazing in your recreation shots! Keep up the great work on this awesome channel. As for Hendry; I think he wants the challenge and you know the money wouldnt hurt eh? I believe he would make Top 16 the first year back. What's your thoughts?
