I honestly think Iverson had that kind of impact within black culture and community........the only difference is Lebron is able to crossover into the mainstream.
@AcerbicOrder
@AcerbicOrder 6 жыл бұрын
The difference is social media/internet and AI didn't play the corporate game. Iverson is the reason NBA changed the dress code and why players wear shooting sleeves/tights. He's also the reason a young kid from Europe Porzingzi had cornrows along with people all over the world. He had much more natural influence on and off the court.

Wouldn't call him an idiot, but concerning music business, millions is not millions. Even though you have more people self producing, you still have to be in the music business for a while to make the kind of money people think you're making when you put out a hot album. That part hasn't changed.

Stephen is right. There has never been one person to influence African American culture. Nor has there ever been just one person who is the face of the Culture. I dont even know if Lebron James has the most popular sneaker in the African American community. Whitlock is clearly showing his age. He's referencing a movie more than 3 decades old. Kiss the ring? FOH.... Stephen was right its dudes like Whitlock who define one man showing adulation and support as kissing the ring. Da F%%% is that about. Dude they were just having a conversation about life. Neither one was seeking approval.

I dont' agree with that, the argument can be made that Eminem or Kendrick Lamar is just as hot as Drake. Both those guys move the needle just as Drake does and on some occasions they move it more than him. I think it was one guy back in the day, because it only happened to be One guy with accomplishments that were immeasurable, Now you have multiple acts or athletes achieving the same status.

Jordan didn't care about being a celebrity. That's the difference. LeBron is going over to Drake during warmups while Jordan wouldn't because the celebrity side of being a pro athlete is so much more important to athletes now. Athletes can't wait to make an appearance in somebody's video once the contract is signed nowadays. There's also a lot more diva behavior across the entertainment business. There's a lot of gimmicky things to pop culture that athletes before wouldn't bother with and would probably call out why they wouldn't bother with it. You can look to the incident with Drake getting into it with Perkins. That kind of thing wouldn't happen back in Jordan's day because for one, you didn't have celebrities forgetting about that line on the court that separates their celebrity world from the world of an athlete. Whether good or bad, there have been athletes who have crossed into the music/rap business, and acting. You don't have any rappers or actors deciding to try their hand at being a pro athlete. So in today's culture where you have anybody for any reason, especially women, wanting to be famous and becoming famous, you wouldn't have somebody like Jordan showing some acknowledgement to you just because you have fame in common. Besides, once Jordan found out about Steven Jackson bringing out a gun at club, he'd probably decide that's not a person I want anything to do with.

Steven Jackson should be smarter than that. the reason why he stopped shooting around come shake your hand so you could do what you are doing right now. and you took the bait like everyone else. Kobe Bryant Jordan they are real basketball players they'll talk to you when the game is over

Marcellus was so wrong in his take the first 30 seconds. Athletes are looked up to because of the money, fame, and women. You’re stupid if you think otherwise. Some people actually respect the game but most just do it for everything else. It starts as “lemme get my family out of the hood”... but it then becomes “Im only messing with instagram models and people who aren’t in my inner circle but are where I came from are beneath me”
