IT is my absolute favourite novel of all time, followed by 11/22/63. The only King novel I had fallen in love with before I even read a single page is Duma Key, though. I read the back cover and just knew. Easily on my S tier shelf.

It's always fascinating to see how readers rank King books. I've never once seen two rankings which are exactly the same (which is the best part). However, one thing that does appear to be the same: "IT" is always top-tier, AND people always seem to qualify that book's high ranking by distancing their opinion of it from the infamous sewer scene. Personally, I think this response is mostly the result of projection and collective gaslighting, not clarity. If people had a working knowledge of Freud or Jung, that scene confronts the reader much differently. And to highlight a persistent asymmetry, what happens to a pre-adolescent Sam Peebles in "Library Policeman" is far more graphic and far more vulgar than what happens to the Loser's Club in "IT" -- at least for the Losers there was mutual consent, for young Sam there was none.
@Lasombra08
@Lasombra08 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. When talking about The Library Policeman, most people don't even deem what happens to young Peebles worth mentioning, even though that scene is far worse than that rather tame one in IT.

You mentioned the odd ending to It and I completely agree. That being said , there is a connection to the Dark Tower series in that weird ending. The animal that helps the gang finish Pennywise is a turtle. I believe the words are something to the extent of “the turtle holding up the world”. Of course the remaining beam in the dark tower is treated directly to a turtle. I think you should go back and check it out, it’s at least interesting although I could be completely wrong. When you mentioned the drawing of the three, you said it got a little long in the tooth and wasn’t a great book in the series which still makes it better than most books I’ve ever read. But, if you would listen to the audio version narrated by Frank Muller it might make that book absolutely amazing for you and anyone else who cares to listen to it; especially with Roland talking about the clearing of the customs for Eddie Dean

@patcoston 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheHorrorShowChannel Gang Bang noun definitions: (1) the successive rape of one person by a group of people (2) an instance of violence involving members of a criminal gang. I don't think Gang Bang is right word. Bev was not raped. It was her idea and consensual. Orgy is not the right word either, because the boys didn't have sex with each other.
@Lasombra08
@Lasombra08 4 жыл бұрын
@@patcoston I can't believe I'm writing this, but that definition of gang bang is slightly outdated. The modern idea of a gang bang (with regards to pornography) is quite consensual. But I dunno. This is not really worth discussing. 😄

I'm one of those weirdos who enjoys Drawing of the Three and The Gunslinger more than the later entries, with the second book being my favorite, but I was also a teenager when I first read them, so I'm sure there's some bias. However, I do respectfully disagree that The Tommyknockers is a better book. There are two or three moments I recall vividly from Tommyknockers, whereas the world he created with Drawing of the Three is far more memorable, IMHO.

I didn't really like Gerald's Game or Dolores Clayborne that much compared to King's other stuff, but I definitely thought Dolores Clayborne was better than Gerald's Game. The link between the two seemed pointless and inconsequential. Nothing at all would have changed if you take it out.

Eh, I think you are essentially correct, but at this point it's kinda been co-opted enough by people that didn't know that, that the officials were like "eff it, that's what it means now, too". @@TheHorrorShowChannel It's pretty counter intuitive to mention spoilers in a "tier list" video series. Most of the people watching are newer readers of King, much like myself. So if you want to keep putting out lackluster content (and ignoring constructive criticism) by all means that's your right! You may have even had a subscriber in me (and who knows how many others) had you watched your tongue and kept spoilers out. But like you said, make them how you see fit!

We’d rather people that like our content stick around, not people that immediately attack the content when the creator doesnt say “oh my god you are SO right!” Just because you give what you call “constructive” criticism does not mean we have to oblige it.
