Pfff the gatekeepers/ trolls are already out. Gotta remember the allegory mentioned in the video about a random person screaming in a crowded subway. I enjoyed this so much! Thank you for talking about the money side of things, the topic has felt either artificial and fake friendly or hush hush secretive during most of my education

Stephen. This is a great format. Half screen scrolling through close ups of artwork while talking heads on the other side. Finally someone has worked out how to present this type of content. Bravo sir.

Between the pair of you, I’ve been handed a great art education. On days off last year I’d watch a few of Uribe’s OPL videos and then draw along with your Patreon videos. Keep up the great work.

Insightful. It's most important to know the business side of art, and thank you so much for sharing 💕 I'm really excited to hear you and adrian gottlieb. Adrian gottlieb is another one of my favorite artist. I'm looking forward to that conversation

You know, Stephen, when I am studying the old masters and I am interested in their work, I go to their Wikipedia entry and start learning about what their life was like, what time period they lived in, did they start a family, did they have a partner, were they lonely, were they healthy or have health issues, what age did they even start doing paintings and their work becomes infinitely more interesting. While I get that you can definitely appreciate the art separate from an artist, it is so enriching to know more about the human soul that had to endure the hardship of living, and yet still found time to do this ridiculously complex thing that is Art. As someone desperately trying to improve, it gets really depleting to be in a void without hope to ever achieve anything close to what those giants have left behind, and then you learn they were human and trying just as hard to stand on the shoulders of other giants that they admired, whether contemporary or masters before their time. It fills me with hope and empathy and joy that we really are not alone in art, we couldn't be. Their spirits live on and those that teach and make art are part of a human connection that is very special and can never be measured by something like monetary value, and yet we are human; we gotta eat. If you ever read this, thanks for often replying, it really means a lot ❤❤❤

I got to work in a diferent profession, but painting to me is in a second level, maybe after I`ve retired can paint with more time. If was not KZbin or Facebook , my paintings never be known, Internet helps ... . About others painters, Art Renewal Center was a big improvement in this area of Fine Arts, open gates to a various artists oportunity`s to a next level.

Actually I think people like Stephen and Nicolas are in a good position to direct buyers to artists for a consultants fee or commission based on their knowledge of art. Maybe that is the new gallery model. Or artists of different genres unite and promote and sell each others works. Its not new. Artist collectives have been around for a long time. I’m not sure why it isn’t more popular.

I've learned the fundamemtals of drawin through a structured course, and I am very happy with the result. Now, what I'm finding difficult is to find a structured course, online, for painting. Does any one know where to find one that is good, that builds up from the very basics to more advanced things?
@stephenbaumanartwork
@stephenbaumanartwork Жыл бұрын
Depends on how basic you want to go. You can check out my structured course if you're interested. It starts with sphere painting and goes all the way to painting in color: sbanavigation.com/collections/patreon
@kllokoq
@kllokoq Жыл бұрын
@@stephenbaumanartwork I will definitely take the course at one point! I was thinking of a structured course that sort of helps me make this transition from drawing and shading with a grayscale (pencil) to color, and continuing on to mixing colors, (how to determine which colors to use for a given painting) how to see color as values, brush strokes and so on. I probably don't even know the most effective sequence of learning these. I want to be efficient with my time. Thannk you, I can see that there is so much in your courses, looks wonderful!

I do not consider Uribe to be a fine artist, he is an illustrator who copies photos in a fine art style.

@nibernator

Not sure how you can not consider him a fine artist. A person can be both an illustrator and a fine artist. They are not mutually exclusive, but maybe you don't understand the traditional definitions. Also, I am not sure what "copies from photos" has to do with anything. Most artists use photos as reference if they are working from the figure, even artists many would not expect.
