@dre27321
@dre27321 8 сағат бұрын
but it isn't though in this context. If a person isn't getting deals like they should and someone in a position of power says he is unmarketable, whether its true or not that's the reason he is not getting deals, because the people giving deals already have a negative opinion on him. So now as a journalist if people in the public are wondering these things, you can put an end to that wonder by stating what the people in power think of him. its not "rumor mill" unless hes just straight up lying about the source which there is zero reason to believe he is.

@danielscott7985 What you're missing is that in our climate, fans and others are going to ask why Jaylen is a champion but isn't featured like other past champions were. Why Jason is getting all of the shine, that is why this subject has to come up. The next question would be where did SAS hear that from vs the fact that this thought pattern and outlooked is how executives look at certain ball players.

@raymondkemp3650
@raymondkemp3650 7 сағат бұрын
@danielscott7985 The MVP award is based on play, NOT on marketable. I'll ask you this between Tatum and Jaylen. Who have you seen in more commercials? TV ads? Even head to head billboards on TV between teams? That's what it means by marketable, NOT his game. This has been going on for YEARS. Look at AI during the early 2000s his play was unbelievable, but do you remember seeing many ads on him vs. his other stars. NBA isn't just able the on court shows. It's also about who they can use to sell the product that is the NBA. Yes, people will watch the games, but if I'm trying to sell sneakers I don't JUST want kids who like basketball in them I want people who know this player is a good dude outside if the court in order to create a brand.

how is that dirty work? it's not like they had no opinion and then stephen A put that seed in their head. People were already assuming that was the case before Stephen A said anything and all he did was confirm it. the powers that be's opinion isnt going to sway the public in this instance and those people in power are already talking to each other(anyone who has enough money to pay JB would have discussions with people who have actually worked with him before going off of a random clip from ESPN). so how exactly would stating what's being talked about behind the scenes HELP those people behind the scenes? especially since right after he said he disagreed with those opinions and defended jaylen brown. He’s also been wrong many many times (for example with the “decision”, with KD to the knicks, Dan Gilbert selling the cavs, etc) and often embellishes, overhypes, or is overly negative for views (like many “journalists”). Credibility does not equal blind trust, nor is it an excuse for libel (publishing harmful information about a person that damages their reputation). I listen to Stephen A a lot, and it’s my opinion he missed the mark on that day. They were talking about JB when he got the text, and he immediately shared that information with America. It could be from a Nike exec, it could be Ime Udoka, it could be Brad Stephens… that kind of open-ended “just throwing it out there” gossip talk, as JB pointed out, is questionable for a MAN’s integrity, not even considering the journalist aspect.

Journalistic integrity emphasizes the importance of accuracy and fairness in reporting. Cross-checking information with the person involved is essential to ensure that the story is truthful and balanced. This practice helps prevent misinformation, provides the opportunity for clarification, and allows for the inclusion of diverse perspectives. It upholds ethical standards by respecting the rights of individuals and fostering trust in journalism. Did he cross check?

This is not taken accountability brother, you didn’t have to say it on your platform, why did you have to read it to millions? I watched the entire episode of Gil's Arena, and I think Gilbert Arenas showed a lot of respect for you and how you conduct yourself. He explained to the other panelists that you have sources in high places who trust and confide in you. He also supported you by explaining how Jaylen Brown could have handled the information you shared. That Jaylen could have processed the information, e.g., "That's what they are saying about me behind my back, and that's the impression I'm leaving." Added, "That's not who I am; there's been a miscommunication and misinterpretation." I think Jaylen needs to take a good look at himself. And SAS, Gil Arenas had your back; he did not waver.

It is IRRESPONSIBLE as a journalist to spread information from an "unnamed source", without doing your own research first to verify if it is true or not, plain and simple! There is no way of determining if that source has a personal beef against Jaylen Brown or their own personal agenda to keep him from succeeding, for whatever reason. SAS just likes to make headlines and cause controversy. If an "unnamed source" at ESPN said how bad a person SAS was, he would want to know who they were as well as discredit them immediately!

There was nothing positive about what the source had to say. It was even on unwarranted and unsolicited. But the bigger question is, “why did Stephen a Smith feel? It was necessary to read on air what the unnamed source had to say about Jaylen Brown in the first place?“ He obviously was looking for traction and clicks himself. That’s the only reason I could think of yet and still, he pretends to have so much love and respect for Jaylen Brown.
