Windhorst is talking about Luka not trying during the finals. In the finals he had injuries in both of his legs AND he had a rib injury coming in from the conference finals. With all those injuries Luka was still the best player on the court. Over the last few years I have watched most of Luka's games. Luka was not moving like he normally moves not only in the finals, but also in the conference finals and semifinals. In fact, he was playing with a knee brace on in the games against OKC that he took off early cause he couldn't move. Even with all that they killed OKC and the Wolves. Overweight Luka is still top 3 player who averaged 34 points (first in the league), 9.8 assists (second in the league), 9.2 rebounds (15th in the league and only top 20 who isn't a center), and 1.5 steals (8th in the league). And only player besides Giannis to get 5 NBA first teams in the last five years in a row.

Its incredible for the NBA itself yes, because of this news cycle. For the Lakers its huge because BB is rapidly growing in popularity across Europe, Lakers will now get a big bite of that. This has nothing to do with Luka being fat. There are two reasons why he was let go practically for nothing. To understand this, you need to know international politics. The owner of the Mavs is a Israeli woman who inherited her husbands money. She is one of the main reasons for the Israeli genocide and expelling Palestinians from their land.
