Homeless - Hart Talks

I actually work for a non profit organization that tries to reduce homelessness for the Staten Island community. It does break my heart when clients approach me. I usually try to refer them to a homeless shelter, but even then it's not the best of conditions, but it is somewhere to go. There was this one homeless lady that would always stop by my office but after a long process, she was finally assigned a social worker and now has housing. She's now doing well. The simple act of giving her donated clothing and hot food makes a huge deal. But yeah. I'm glad you touched upon this topic. Have a fun trip! Can't wait to watch your next video! -Cheers!

It is horrible that in this day & age that there are still so many homeless people on the streets. I remember in High School we cooked a Thanksgiving meal & all the students went around the neighborhood feeding any one we saw sleeping or living outside. It felt great, but i wished we could have done more!

I agree with you Ellen it is. I'm thinking I might do something like that on the run upto Christmas this year, not sure yet. x

Its a horrible situation to be in, and you, more than most know exactly what its like. It shouldn't be happening in this century!!

It shouldn't cavadrinker, but unfortunatly we see it everyday, but I know that you know that even the smallest gesture of kindness can change a persons day. Thanks for your support. X

It does make you think how desperate people can be to have no choice but to 'hide' and become homeless. It's awful, and shouldn't be happening. The numbers are so high now, especially young people and those with a mental disorder. I have been contributing to 'Shelter from the Storm' for a few years now, which is London based.These charities try to offer a warm bed, some food and even a place to wash. Each person is totally different, each have their own story, each needing shelter and food. It is a sad situation.

Charities like Shelter and crisis do amazing work Sue, and support from people like you and me can change someones life, I'm proof of that 😉. Thanks for supporting. x
