cheers Stephen! Brown to Blue has always been my nemesis!!
@oyyq99999 Жыл бұрын
same here! I need to practice tons and tons of Brown to Blue...
@DM-kv9kj Жыл бұрын
@@oyyq99999 Maybe try to practice most of those in a full colour clearance though. Otherwise you end up so focused on the one shot, you can start to get sloppy on the rest. Sort of similar with stuff like practicing shots on both sides of the table, so you don't start to subtly develop a preference for one side.
@oyyq99999 Жыл бұрын
@@DM-kv9kj Thanks for the advice. Actually I'm practicing pretty much everything with non-fixed style. Just a rough range to start with and allow multiple choices where applicable. But the brown to blue positional shot always draws me back, so I really need to do it more than usual. I will use the rest whenever needed and I don't limit my cue power too much on a relatively comfortable rest shot. And occasionally I play shots with my opposite hand because I want to be able to play with both hands eventually, but that is not my focus for now.

Hey Stephen, you've done a video explaining how to aim with side. Care to do a video explaining the different reaction of the cue ball in relation to where you hit it? You know, hit very low for Screwback, low-mid for a Stun, high for Runthrough and so on, and also the reaction/angle change when hitting with side on those shots. You are really articulate when explaining each situation, I bet this is a video quite a few beginners are looking forward to watching ^ Cheers on the 100k subs btw

100% agreed. I'd love to see him explain how the path of the white changes when you're putting side on, as well as how the path of the object ball is effected by different types of cue-ball spin

Love the videos mate. Can you do one on the physics of the cue ball when applying top, stun or side etc. and when to do it, also what happens off the cushions when you have applied bottom or top etc. like what way does the ball want to go if you have top on it and it hits the cushion? Also did Murphy apply anything on that mad pot a couple of weeks ago or did the pocket mouth put spin on it?

Playing from brown to blue via the cushion is a good example of playing along the line of the next shot, rather than going directly at it and playing across the line which makes it more difficult.

Hello Mr. Hendry. Could you please do a video on cues. Perhaps talk about the wood, the different types what makes a good cue, size of the tip, etc ect ect?Much appreciated.
@mikebest634 Жыл бұрын
No such thing as a good or bad cue ,price dictates the use of exotic woods used that has no bearing on the playability of the cue .Shaun Murphy uses one of the smallest ferule and tip sizes ,under 9 mill ,more like an English pool cue size ,you have to have a solid technique to hit the ball consistently with that tip .Hendry’s original power glide cue was an old cheap off the rack bent piece of wood but it felt perfect to him .

@phildre1974 Жыл бұрын
When you run out of position clearing the colors become much more difficult. I practise this often, but in matches on club level the colors are usually not on their spot anymore. Still great for learning the angles and should be in the practise routine.
@allistermcginlay6476 Жыл бұрын
Perhaps that's why Stephen seems harsh in commentary against fellow snooker players? He understands fundamentally about the game, keeping it simple wins frames and winning frames wins games, all confidence boosters! What made him such a terror was he used to pot a good long pot and then settle down and make a high break, that's not easy? But by positioning the white ball he made a hard game almost routine and look who came up grasping onto his shirt-tails, ' the class of 92' no disrespect intended Stephen was not only an inspiration to them, he was an essential guide to all who followed!

clearing the colors doesn't start with the yellow, it starts with the black and ends with the black, distance white travels from black to yellow is not to be underestimated and you could screw up before you even play the ball that everyone thinks its the first obsticale
