I had the fortune to play this in the Spring of 2022 with the wind ensemble arrangement and its super cool to hear it now with a full string ensemble

@@shaunbeakley348 ah yes - what an amazing group. I had such a great time visiting with all of you. (Did I ask you to play louder?) :) I never would have imagined a high school band would play this piece. I was stunned! Bravo to you and your colleagues!

I love that bitter climax in the middle of the finale. It's reaching for that E major and not finding it. The ending is quite beautiful. The entire work is genuinely and deeply felt. Sophisticated and dense in tonality, but ultimately clear in expression. A true symphonic feeling in this music. Bravo!

I like the sound world here, the dissonance, quieter moments of loss, and the insistent motif. The addition of vocals feels as natural and unobtrusive as any instrument. Even without knowing your intent it would fit. Shouts and murmurs captures a kind of restlessness and anger. The dramaturgy of this piece works well...contrast with another piece I listened to recently that was written during the pandemic. It lacked any real drama, such as you have here...in particular it lacked anger. This sounds great too. What are you using for libraries? New subscriber.

thank you so much for listening! I did my best to capture the emotion I was feeling. Plus I had the welcome (but daunting) challenge of originally writing this as a wind-ensemble piece for the Marine Band. (very inspiring) This is the recently completed orchestra transcription. I have to confess, I just use Finale - no special libraries. Thank you for commenting and subscribing. How'd you come across this piece?
