as you are my newfound online drawing teacher!!! can you help me please? really want to do this . I am considering a class but it is VERY expensive and I feel really guilty to take our saved money and do this. Yet I need a job ( oversharing here!!) and don't have many skills. I love art and painting but I know ( ppl have said ) my use of color is great but things are off in proportions and perspective ( hence the current watching of these videos). I think it would be easier to have a teacher ( it is a live class once a week with loads of HW and a 2 yr commitment). I know a few ppl that did take this course and said it was worth it for them but they also had loads of experience before ( have none) Should I take this course and look at it as an investment ( like school) or try online courses that are free or cheap? What would you recommend?

this is great thank you. Can I ask about the coffee table? It seems very angled and extreme and does not look sense? oHow would one draw that with 2 vps in a way that makes it visually appealing?
@stephentraversart Жыл бұрын
The problem is, the level of perspective distortion we can visually tolerate in an overall room space shape is greater than what we can tolerate in a smaller object within that space. So the coffee table no longer has the proportions of a coffee table, so looks odd. The truth is that the further we more to the edges of the room, the people should have been similarly distorted. If this were a manipulated photo, they would be. Perspective often creates a dramatic angle which can never really be achieved from a real life location. Great for showcasing a building design, not so helpful for fitting into a wider landscape. Does this make sense?😀
@applesauceandhoney2407 Жыл бұрын
@@stephentraversart honestly I am not sure I think basically we need to use our imagination to make it make sense?
@stephentraversart Жыл бұрын
Dramatic perspective distortions can easily distort beyond what is possible in life. The way a camera lens can. It’s not as obvious with the rectangular box of the room, but is more obvious with the smaller objects. 😀
@applesauceandhoney2407 Жыл бұрын
@@stephentraversart as always thank you. Do you think that I use your channel sorta as a course that I could finally understand this? I am re watching and trying but not really succeeding. Like a simple box on the eye level I can do. But as soon as I go over eye level or under I can't seem to make this work. Feeling stupid. should I enroll in a proper course? What do you recommend. I am seriously needing direction
@youtubesucks5131Ай бұрын
just out of curiosity, i wonder how it would be done if the left point was behind the floor, for example from a perspective below. one would not use that but I wonder how one would construct the floor like this, there is always one line missing that doesn't fit to one of the points..
