It’s 2:02AM and I’ve just had a realisation! I think that Stephen Lies and Dave Raves are materialised segments from suggestions made by Karl Pilkington on the Ricky Gervais Podcast. Karl proposes a segment called “Con Merchant”, which is like a call my bluff segment - mildly similar to Stephen Lies, and “Whine Merchant” where Steve Merchant is encouraged to speak about things that have been annoying him - mildly similar to Dave Raves!
