I remember playing in this game. I was #19 playing weak side LB for Ennis starting as a 10th grader... One of the best experiences of my life. After this loss we went on to win back to back championships the following year and the year after.

Wow good game... I am from Maine and football between maine and Texas is so different..... hockey and wrestling are huge up there... football is more smashmouth in maine . Nice to see a game like this.

I say salute to both squads. I'm a La Marque Cougar For Life. Those were interesting times back then. Stephenville had our number in the state championship games in 1993, 1994, and 1998. Denison had Stephenville's number a few times. We had Denison's number in the state championship games in 1995, 1996, and 1997. I guess it's all about matchups. Till this day I'd like to know how Denison had Stephenville's number. Ennis was everything as advertised as well. Everybody in the state was paying attention to this game between Ennis and Stephenville. We lost to Port Neches-Grove in the quarterfinals in 1999. Stephenville went on of course to beating them in the state championship game.
