This new format is definitely easier to follow for me - I felt bad about intermittently stopping following the vlog in the past, but the daily vlogs were very easy to lose track of, whereas this is super easy to keep up with. I think the dry end-of-month summary thing might not be the direction to take it, but uploading whenever you really have something worth sharing sounds wonderful. I loved the videos you uploaded last month.

Honestly, the new format seems to have been a positive in every way. Not only do you look like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders (because it has), but vlog quality just seems to be better overall because we're only getting The Good Stuff™ and not the boring days in-between (even though I still loved those as well). I'm happy you finally made this decision for yourself. Also, since you mentioned Beetlejuice: I also think Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a good sequel, but "Beetlejuice the Musical" has been my absolute brainrot for the last 3+ years and will NEVER leave my brain. Every joke and every song (particularly "Dead Mom", "Say My Name", and "What I Know Now") lives in my brain rent-free. I need help and I refuse to get it.

I was initially heartbroken by the end of the daily vlogs (change can be scary, what can I say) but hearing how good you have been doing mentally has pretty much eased all my concerns. The small updates have really made me happy, and i like the format of filming a few special occasions as vlogs and then a recap at the end of the month. I hope you continue to feel better :)

I was never bothered by the daily format nor the less eventful/"white undershirt" vlogs (isn't _that_ a blast from the past) because I never struggled to stay up to date. I was initially saddened by the news of the daily vlogs no longer being daily - but seeing these past few videos since the change came into effect really changed my mind. I was a fan of the daily format, but I'm a big fan of this new format, too. Especially since I can already see how much it has reinvigorated you in just a month. Change can be scary, but it doesn't necessarily have to be bad. ❤️

Keep in mind that Stephen mentioned in his video where he announced his retiring the _daily_ vlogs, that he mentioned that he was making changes for the sake of his _mental health_ which I always feel should be highest on the priority list. Burnout is a very real thing, and the fact that he mentioned in the "daily vlog retirement" video that the collective burnout from all 15 years of doing daily vlogs had been hitting him all at once and how it was affecting him mentally, should show just how much he _needed_ to change how he does the vlogs, and _when_ he does them. And apparently, according to _this_ video, he's doing a lot better mentally now, which is good. So, yeah, change can be scary, but it can also be a necessity at times too.

Honestly, I like hearing about what's going on during Breakfast Stream. It's like visiting the grandparents to find out what they've been up to. As for the vlogs themselves, maybe it was burnout, which to go over a decade doing vlogs is insane to just now hit burnout, unless you were just progressing on burnout, somehow. Which man, being a content creator myself, that is insane when I really think about it now. Who knows where the vlog will go. We're here for it though!

Its great that the "silly little project" feels more like a "silly little project" now instead of mentally draining project. Happy for you Stephen! Little update vlogs like this are totally cool, make sure you keep it when you want it and don't feel obligated to make them. Its more fun this way, especially when we get things like the theatre kid/GTA player venn diagram vlog.

“I am allowed to record things when I want.” HECK YEAH!!! YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! Glad to see that things are getting better for you! In terms of ideas, it would be neat to see how you make a meal start-to-finish since you mentioned that earlier. It’ll be another nice look into how life has changed for you since you stopped recording on the daily. Plus, you could even get creative with it and make it into a bumper if you want! Oddly enough, January has been a transformative month for me as well. I got back into school (and I think I’m doing pretty well so far!) and I got diagnosed for level 1 autism (very high-functioning), and both of those things have impacted my mental health in VERY good ways that I never would’ve imagined. Answers were found, progress is being made, and I’m learning more and more about myself. There’s still some things to work out, but I’ve gotta keep riding this wave I’m on or else I’ll lose it again, and I don’t want that! 😅 We’ll figure things out as we go along. Just gotta keep on trucking. 😊

As a grown adult who has not had much time to watch as much KZbin compared to when I was younger, I am glad there is not a daily vlog to be honest. It allows Stephen to devote time to more talk about important topics than trying to make filler content each day! It makes the vlog more enjoyable as a viewer and I cannot imagine how stress free it has been for Stephen!

I was certainly one of the more somber (though not unsupportive) viewers when the bombshell video dropped. But I must say, seeing you taking that walk in January and then this video, I can see that this was probably the right decision. I think I was afraid of losing something that had been such a defining feature of my teenage years, and early adulthood. But I can see we're not losing you and as a viewer, it hasn't felt so different. I'm glad it's having such positive effects on your life too. As a suggestion, perhaps you could consider making a video to help those who stick to the Vlog most find you elsewhere? Like a primer on what you're up to on your other channel or with other projects and collaborations, if any?

This sort of monthly recap is nice and the occasional spontaneous vlogs are fun surprises! It's really nice to see you feel more at ease and you just look like you don't have so much on your plate now that you're not trying to keep up on a daily basis. The fact you kept up with it since your college years till the end of 2024 is a feat you should be proud of, but this change was needed for you and I hope you continue to feel good about this decision. Thank you for all you do for all of us, and especially for yourself!

You know its interesting, even though the vlogs aren't daily anymore and obviously there are far less of them, it, at least so far in this new "era", doesn't really feel as a viewer that much different. Obviously there will be times where you'll upload even less than you did this month but as of now, it still feels like we see vlogs kinda semi-regularly and it still feels like enough. So that, along with you feeling much more free and happier means this change was definitely for the better.

For those of you not on Patreon, the format of this is very similar to the first half of the Patreon videos Stephen makes where he recaps the last month, before then talking about what games, visitors etc are coming up before it's publicly announced. I like the idea of these ~monthly summaries in addition to the one-off vlogs for particular events or interest.

Not sure if I commented on the other vlogs since it became non-daily, BUT I really love this general format. I do have some feedback! (1) I know you felt a lot of pressure doing daily vlogs--I also felt some kind of pressure as a viewer, particularly when you were 'catching up'. I love watching the daily vlogs, but when I suddenly see a dozen new daily vlogs in my subscription box I just get overwhelmed and feel like I cannot watch them all. With the occasional vlogs, I feel much more like I want to watch every single one because I know each one will be something special. Not that the daily vlogs weren't special, but hopefully you know what I mean. That's a big reason why I have only been an occasional viewer, but I've been watching since about a year after you originally started, and the vlogs have helped me through some tough periods of my life, so thank you. (2) I noticed you still put January's vlogs into a January 2025 playlist. I really like having the option to still go through chronologically, so I encourage you to keep doing that, even if you don't put the date in the vlog titles anymore. (3) I really like the energy of these vlogs. They still have that "Stephen" energy and they still have the same vibe as the daily vlogs, but they seem just a bit more focused which is really nice. The daily vlogs that were just you talking about cameras, video, phones, or technology were some of my favorites because of how focused they were (and definitely not just because of the topic!) and these vlogs have that same kind of vibe which is nice. Thanks for doing what you do, and here's to another 15 years of sustainable vlogging. :)

Aww.. the last 5-7 minutes made my heart happy. I completely get that feeling of not knowing what a day off feels like. I still work every day, about four jobs right now. I'm hoping to get my real estate license soon and hopefully getting a business I want to get off the ground soon. Does that mean it will be less work, no, probably not. But it's more of a passion thing. I'm willing to do a lot of work if it means more to me. Anyway, the point is, I really like when people kind find a peace of some sort. Glad you have been able to find that after many years of that feeling that you have to do something. In Buddhism that is a part of enlightenment. Hopefully those creative juices start flowing with that much needed simmering time.

If I can make one request with the new format: Can you please include the date of recording in the video title still? Especially with the jumps in timelines with the Japan vlogs, it makes it easier to figure out when something was recorded/which timeline it is when browsing your videos. It's so good to see you feeling so well. I am mainly a watcher of the gameplay channel for a long time. The vlogs always felt a bit daunting to follow with any regularity for me. Going to a format that puts things together like this feels better to watch and it clearly a nice change for you. Never being able to just have a day where you can just do something for yourself and no one else sounds exhausting.

I know the feeling, I'm having quite the parallel with you right now. I recently had to pick up a corporate job not in my field that prevents me from creating my game and I decided to put away my game development for a moment while I start my adult life at 26. The feeling has been freeing and there was a moment where I was doing laundry one morning and I realized I wasn't thinking about the next thing I have to do for the game. I have been like this since I was a junior in high school and I finally had to put the ideas away for a bit and the space that has been freed up in my brain is amazing to experience. I miss it dearly and it has only been 2-3 weeks but I needed to put it away as it was destroying my health. I thought I wouldn't continue to be inspired by things for game ideas but that part of my will never die so I'm just having fun thinking about new things rather than this one project. Just wanted to share that as I am experiencing the same thing roughly.

To reiterate: I'm so glad that you've taken this step for yourself. I think it's easy to forget that at the core of so much content is the desire to see other people happy. And especially you, for your fanbase, I think that is particularly important. Seeing genuine passion and enjoyment is what breathes life into a project. The daily vlog was wonderful and epic. Stephen's in his mindfulness era. Very zencore I hope this inspires many to take a step back and reflect on their own work schedule. Using time off simply to recharge is a MUST. Too many people feel like taking days off is a detriment to their work, company, or team - that cannot be further from the truth. Take care of yourself!

I'm not hating this idea for the format. Occasional little vlogs throughout the month and one big end-of-month summary vlog to get us up to speed. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I think moving away from daily vlogs might be the play. I mean, for you it's obviously the play, it sounds as though you're doing just so much better mentally, which is awesome, but also, like, if I ever fell behind on the vlogs, getting caught back up would feel like a bit of a daunting prospect, whereas this month, not so many opportunities to fall behind in the first place. I don't know that we've hit that perfect balance quite yet, but I think this is onto something here.

All of us here are just so thankful that you're doing better and we can tell that you did the right thing. Only talk about what you want to talk about. Keep it up Stephen and Mal! We're all happy for you. Once the Japan vlogs are released I'm going to finish the collection of playlists of the vlog each year. One from 2009 and 2010 to 2024 once that's done and I even made a playlist called "2025 and beyond" for the future vlogs.

This is awesome, Stephen. So happy for you. Haven't watched in a few years, but you got me through a lot when I was in middle school (I've graduated college now!). It's really cool to see you finally take a step back from doing daily vlogs. You deserve the break.
