Stephon Marbury was one of a kind type of player who was the best player to come out of Coney Island, New York. He was a fan favorite all through his NBA career. He didn’t like being on the Timberwolves because he complained that it was too cold over there. At least, he went back to New York where he plays for his hometown Knicks. He wanted to be closer to his family and friends. Once his NBA career was over, he did very well in China by becoming the player that he was destined to be and win championships. Today, he is still living in China by being a head coach for the Beijing Royal Fighters basketball team.

The Jason Kidd-Marbury trade really hurt Marbury's career and how he is remembered. The Nets improved like 30 games with basically the same team with Kidd in the lineup and made it to the finals in back to back years.

Not the same team bro. Addition by substraction. Key older higher paid disgruntled players left and younger players better players got to play along with the addition of Richard Jefferson . Look at the roster closer. Kidd’s team subtracted a lot of disgruntled dead weight. Sherman Douglas, Eddie Gill, Kendall Gill, Jim Mcilvane, Mark Strickland, Johnny Newman, Doug Overton. They was getting in the way of the younger talent who was hungry. But I will always Give Kidd is credit cause he is my favorite PG.

Marbury was super talented, and probably gets more hate than he deserved. But he didn’t elevate his teams success for all that individual talent. His failings at that, are a huge part of why Nash won two MVPs. Phoenix, 2004, Marbury, Amare, Marion, Joe Johnson, the whole crew. Granted, Marbury got traded halfway through the season to New York, but in that half season they only won a third of their games. Next year, Nash comes in, little roster change, same coach, they win 62 games. I’m glad Stephon found his success in China, and after listening to his melo pod, it sounds like he’s in a good place.
