I was hunting mushrooms alongside Stepp Cemetery about 6 years ago and after about 10 minutes of walking and turning over leaves in search of morels the path on which I was taking became crowded with timber rattlesnakes! I began to run and ran a good half mile until finally reaching my car! I immediately started my car and drove off reaching a ranger station up the road. I went in explaining what had happened. The only answer I received was Yes there are timber rattlers in the area! But no answer to why there were so many of them congregated around that cemetery!! There must have been hundreds and I didn't receive one bite but I sure didn't stick around to get bitten either!

I wish media would leave this cemetery alone. I have many family members buried in this cemetery and "news" such as this perpetrates the vandalism that has occurred at this site. Leave it alone!
