I feel better having things in place here for security. When the authorities were notified last year after a close call here, i upped my security. Thankful i did because people would be surprised what comes around. Some people form a sense of security thinking they are safe living in the woods while the unlawful also feel safer because its the woods! So glad you folks are being wise about this.

You nailed it!! Some feel safer because of the remoteness but at the same time so do criminals. So sorry to hear you had that close call. Just glad all was ok. We have to protect ourselves with assistance being a ways away. Motion lights, dogs, fencing, security systems, and other things help to deter two and four legged intruders…protecting you and your investments! Be safe out there! ♥️

Jason, when I watch a video and see there is any "commercial-like" content, I will close it right away. But I like how you put all these things together. And I can feel that you are just sharing, not selling.Everything is soooo valuable. Awesome content as always. Have a super great week ahead!!

I’m glad to hear it came across like we wanted it to. We are not salesmen but when we find something that works for us we want to share it with people like you. Hoping it helps someone. Thanks so much for the support. You have a great week as well!!👍

I spent 35 years in rural Maine. Worked very hard in the yacht business, shoe business, wood turning business. Never got ahead really. Sold out and bought a 1884 3 storey brick row-house in downtown Pittsburgh on a foreclosure from a bank in India...sight unseen. It was my ticket to an off grid lifestyle. I spent 10 years rebuilding the Pittsburgh place into a beautiful 3 family home. My wife worked in a little bakery a block away and I worked like crazy on the house. Always dreaming of an earthship, we visited Taos New Mexico. Earthships have always been my dream. I sold Pittsburgh at an excellent profit and paid for our off grid earthship. Thank you Pittsburgh! You did what Maine could not do in 33 years of working for others! Now I have the perfect off grid lifestyle for the past 5 years. No electric, no sewer, no water bills and the place really does heat itself. Earthships are PERFECT! Taos is Perfect. Weather, skiing, soaking in the hot springs. Can't say enough good things. All my dreaming and snow shoveling and firewood gathering in Maine didn't pay off like a plundge into the city life with a goal of being off grid. Strange path I guess...but going to Downtown Pittsburgh was the best way to reach my dream of being off grid in the high desert of New Mexico!.

Interestingly enough, we made our money in the city as well. As a matter of fact, had we not started with what we had in the city I'm not sure we could've pulled this off. That said, I'm not surprised Pittsburgh gave you the opportunities to follow your dream as well. We are very happy you found your forever home in New Mexico. We found ours here in Maine and wouldn't trade it for the world. Thank you for sharing your story with us and for your support. ☺

Jason, l totally agree with what you are saying. When someone puts all their savings, time, effort, and love into a dream, the last thing one wants is some creep stealing or destroying it. Endorsement can be a touchy thing, but the way you went about explaining it is appreciated. I think there is a necessary balance between a channels main mission and the need for $$. Some go overboard, others do as you're doing. Thank you for your content and the way you keep it honest. 💛 Let me add, as soon as l saw that woodpecker trying to infiltrate the feeding area, l knew a security system was a necessity! No, really, l have property in Maine. l plan on moving to it full-time in the near future and would love to get advice from you and Jenn. I'm just not sure how to contact you both. Take care, and God bless. You guys (Midwesterner here) are the best!!

best security system has 4 legs period with a 12 gauge backup, birchbark is a great firestarter also

Couldn’t agree with you more! We can’t talk enough about our cattle dogs and what they do for our homestead. As for the additional layers we have, makes me feel better knowing we have “eyes” when we’re not home 😉 Birch bark works great in a pinch but for us we like these as they add a bit of a punch when starting our fires. Thanks for the support!

Turn those egg trays upside down & stuff them. Think it’ll be better. It’s obvious you never worked a production line or got paid by the piece.

@@KC-cy3th 🤣 After 20+ yrs running factories domestically and abroad, I never want to step in another factory! 🤣 Don’t need to stuff them full, but I suppose you could if you wanted to. They work like a candle, the “lint” is the wick and the wax burns. 👍

I like the idea of the fire starter. What do you use them for?
@HanbleceyaRanch29 күн бұрын
We use them to start fires in our wood stove, when we burn our paper trash, etc. They work great!!

You're way off the road. Do you really need a "security system" with your dogs ? Are we getting some paranoid ? We're a mile off a back rural road. No firearms, no one enters this cul de sac. Have the dangers honestly become that bad ? JMNSHO

Thanks for the questions! It’s not paranoia…it’s being honest with ourselves and not wanting to give “fate” a chance to kick us in the knees. There is absolutely nothing paranoid about wanting to protect our land and our home. No different than the locks on a car door. That said, I appreciate your questions and I can understand how you feel about your own situation…we just happen to differ a little bit, and that’s OK! 😊

As someone who lives in the woods, I've had issues at my place with theft more than once. I've got monitoring equipment here and one would be surprised at what comes around either at night or when I'm away. Just last week I caught 2 people on recording. They parked their vehicle up out of site and started walking in. When the sensor light came on I heard and saw them run out of the light then made an attempt to stay out of the lit area only to be met with a security alarm and another light. They left and didn't advance further but I believe only because they would have to get wet to go around in order not to be seen with yet more sensor lights, alarms etc. My security here is a must to protect myself and what I have here. Jason and Jen are smart to do this. Personally I don't feel it is paranoia at all.

yeah they have. my camp was broken into. one time my son and i were walking the camp road, as we passed a neighboring camp, strange van parked with people I knew were not the owners, as they tried the door. we went right back to ours, called 911. they were busted with contents from the camp in the van. central Maine area here. ya never know.
