I honestly think that the original plot line was supposed to be Derek and Stiles; but something changed and they tried to pair off Stiles with a different Hale. When that wouldn't work they tried to pair that Hale(Tate) with Scott.

Ok, so: I got both tracks from iTunes and downloaded the lyrics, just to have an idea of what we are talking about. They are very different and, at first listening, "Life in the Pain" would seem suitable for a Derek-centric video. However, I'll listen and read both more carefully. You said you were writing a fic: are these inspired/related to that? At the moment, I'm already working on two videos and I'm leaving for a training course and a brief vacation (even if my laptop is coming with me...), so no promises! I hope there will be more usable footage in the next couple of episodes so that I might really make something fresh. Also, I'd like to experiment and make a video somewhat challenging from a technical point of view (iMovie mostly allows me to cut & paste with few FX). We'll see... ^^

The thing I can't understand is why they did give hints of Sterek and then suddenly stopped midway, Derek left blah blah. They could've been endgame and we could've gotten to watch the best couple of the show ever but nah they chose to kill the whole romance of the show with this act

IMO Tyler Posey (who later became co-producer of the series) had something to do with that and, anyway, after the first seasons both Hoechlin and O'Brien had more compelling projects they wanted to get involved with.

There are a long answer and a short one. The long one involves both women and gay men's psychology and I guess this is not the right place to discuss about it. The short one is that they are damn cute, adorable and sexy together and there has been some sexual tension/chemistry going on between the two in some of the earlier seasons' scenes.
