Actually Kelly Jones has written some of the nicest ballads I've heard. I agree with you Oasis were good but Stereophonics have their own style mixed with Kelly's voice. Funny thing is they started in 1992 about the same time as Oasis, fair do's they didn't get famous until about 1997 when Word Gets Around came out but look at it this way, Stereophonics have managed to stay together as a group (well if you exclude Stuart Cable obviously), and they're stikll doing what they love. Oasis despite having written brilliant songs, and having a great legacy, I'm sure Stereophonics will have too, Kelly has some great songs that aren't the band's best known too y'know. You enjoy what you want, I respect both bands for who they are.

Phonics were inter-generation, and they came with an oldschool but fresh sound in a time when "britpop" was taking over. They only got big after "Performance and Cocktails", they deserved the big time earlier. I guess thats why. The industry was being consolidated and going to shit, as far as radio and media etc. Shame. Just as iconic as Manics and Oasis, to me, and I prefer most of their songs.
