@bejamga True, but the band's first album was 1997, a fine year for British bands indeed, which makes them a 90's band still. And like many late 90's bands, they released albums during the 2000's.

This is what music is supposed to be. No matter when I listen to this song and how often, it always fills me with a sea of emotions. Having depression can make you feel you're completely alone in a crowded room. You might have a magnificent home, a great car, a respected job and the whole world to live for, but you still feel empty, desperate and hopeless nonetheless. The inner darkness sometimes feels impenetrable. You'd give anything to find the reset button to switch off the sadness and start feeling joy again, like everyone else seems to... There just aren't any quick fixes, though. For some, there may be no fix at all. Yet... No matter how dark it gets, stay focused on getting through today, however hard it is. For one day, there WILL be a cure. Maybe tomorrow...

In sad to heard that. But if you really watch the video, the strange looks Kelly receives, the weird lips of the backing singer, the almost sinister hallucinatory people at the taxi windows this is not a positive song. Well it depends how how you look at it. The lyrics suggest that home is not another place or another person but yourself.. "Wanna breathe with an open mind, wanna swim with in the ocean and take my time for me. Oh, me." The video also shows anytime he is with other ppl things descend into chaos or judgement ( the way the ppl interviewing look at him , disgusted and appalled near the end always intrigued me) But sorry I went on too long, " back home" is finding yourself and the self worth that automatically comes with it. He feels like he has lost his peace of mind. Home is where he can feel free and just be himself but notably, by himself. Only when you truly love yourself can you receive respectful reciprocated love from others that you deserve. Hope you're well 🌺 x

As far back as I can remember I struggled! I struggled with things that most people take for granted in life, an example of this would be basic stability within my family home. I was born a victim of circumstance and or my environment,...a hopeless and lonely environment embroiled in drugs, alcohol, and violence. From the age of 5, I fell into the arms of the system, foster care, children's homes etc. At the age of 13-14 I found myself in a secure unit for children and adolescents, and this Steriophonics CD was the first ever CD I asked my therapist to get for me, and this song kept me going, and gave me hope for a very long time,...years! I am now 36 and still in the system after a severe mental breakdown,...it has been 22 years, and I am still listening to this hopeful song,...trying to find my way back home. I hope with all my heart, that one day I will make it to the place I call home, the place I have only ever dreamt of!

This song is about depression and going through very hard times..... "I've been down and I'm wondering why, these little black clouds keep on walking around with me" He's been depressed so long he's wondering why. People get this, they get so depressed they forget what really was the pivotal thing that made them sad in the first place. "It wastes time and I'd rather be high, think I'll walk me outside and buy a rainbow smile and be free, oh they're all free". I'd rather get my fix/smoke/whatever it is than be sad, I'll walk outside and buy me a fake illusory smile but at least I'll be free. "They're all free", he's looking outside at the "beautiful" people and seeing them so happy, he wants one of those fake smiles and to be free just like them. "So maybe tomorrow, I'll find my way home" maybe tomorrow I'll find my way back to inner peace, it's a question of perseverance. "I look around at a beautiful life" he's having an awesome poke at what's termed the "beautiful life" (reflected in the video) "I've been the upside of down and the inside of out but we breathe" I've been through the deepest hell's and been through the very depths of lonely but I breathe, I breathe. I still live, not that I feel better, but we breathe. "I wanna breeze in an open mind, wanna swim in the ocean and take my time for me" I'm tired of feeling like this, I want to stop my thoughts being so damn CLOUDED! I don't WANT to be sad, I don't WANT to feel like I have to impress everyone and live up to appearances, I want to stop saying I don't care what people think but doing things anyway, and I want to do it all for me! Instead of feeling like I'm not worth it, I wanna feel free and care for myself. Love myself. This is why I find this song sad, to me it feels like a song about a guy with depression of which cannot be cured. By the way, these types of depressives exist. People think mental illness is curable, sometimes it isn't. Sometimes that Black Dog will linger forever, I feel this song is about exactly that. This man KNOWS what he has to do, but inevitably he can never feel it. However, let's take light in that he believes there's an end....but could he be talking about the wrong kind of end? Thoughts?

+Bronco England There is nothing racist in there. Black clouds (not black men nor black women) Black Clouds have always been a symbol of a threat since the beginning of humanity, we've learned to fear them, cause they use to be the announcement of a storm, and this have nothing to do with races.

Stereophonics have released ten studio albums, including six UK number one albums. Their latest album is Scream Above the Sounds (2017). A successful compilation album, Decade in the Sun, was released in November 2008 and charted at number two in the United Kingdom. Stereophonics not really underrated. Check the Urban Dance Squad or 24-7 Spyz or King's X for REALLY underrated bands that never got the recognition they deserved.
