Example of a wide-eyed stereoscopic mandala generated by KnotPlot. Focus your left eye on left image and right eye on right image. Note: this video is best viewed at normal size (i.e., not full screen). Image spacing should be approximately your eye spacing.

It took me awhile to get it - it's much harder than the old stereograms. I can't seem to "hold" the vision very long either. But it's worth trying!

If you use your left and right hands to cover up the two side videos as you focus on the one in the middle it will turn into one video but you have to bring your hands close to your face and focus right. Its a lot better.

Best way to train yourself to use the "wide-eyed" also known as "wall-eyed" method: 1. Get a sheet of cardboard with both sides the same color about 2 feet long (roughly 60cm long) by 1 foot wide (roughly 30cm wide). 2. Touch one side of the cardboard to the center of the two images so that it divides them. 3. Touch your forehead to the other end of the cardboard and you should only have one image to try focusing on. 4. If one image is more "up" or "down" from the other, tilt your head. 5. WIN!

Yea, i could never get how people do stereo parallel-viewing, especially on screens; you have to get your face so close you can see the pixels on your monitor, and even then the images aren't overlapping :s

Great stuff. litle hard to focus, especially when there are translucent parts.

NOTE: The cardboard might work better for some people turned one way (to look from further away), and might work better for others turned the other way (to look from closer up). Also, not everyone has functioning stereoscopic vision. Sadly, all the advice in the world won't be able to convert any motion parallax (head movement depth perception) into stationary binocular eye convergence (fixed vantage point depth perception).
