I have one myself..i had to change the trem so the dtuna would work properly. The stock trem only allows the dtuna to drop a half step

I can't get why they're not making the double locking trem versions anymore. The second hand ones are extremely hard to find, espacially in Europe.

I loved my AX4. Now I play my EVH Wolfgang Standard more... AX4 is still a great guitar though.

I would like to give the AX40 another try. I tried one at GC, fretwork was a disaster. It is possible that one could be ordered and with a good setup it is a great guitar.

I've got the Transparent black all stock in mint condition with the original gig bag, sticker and Sterling brochure that I scored a couple of months before EVH passed from a guy whom bought it new and put it In his closet and never played it I've been looking on eBay and Reverb and can't find even one for sale anywhere else on the web for sale.so what is up with these? I have no idea what one of these would sell for I do my own setups using a gauged formula starting with the truss rod then soup to nuts to the intonation and was able to get my action down on it crazy low without any fret buzz I think these are pretty great guitars IMHO Nicely done video demo RIP Eddie Van Halen He deserves so much praise for his contributions to.the electric guitar and Rock & Roll!!!!🤘

I must say though that G&L dual-fulcrum vibrato is superior to the strat version. You wouldn't dive on it but it stays perfectly in tune.

For whatever reason, I don't like EVH Wolfgang (maybe I'm not a fan of the headstock). I much prefer the Axis shape (Love EBMM 4x2 headstock). Axis are so comfortable to play too! Definitely down to see you get the EBMM version!

I had a peavey wolfgang many years ago. Great guitar but a little too complicated for me at the time. I agree though. The axis is a bit nicer to look at

I have both the Sterling AX4 (2015 I think) and an EVH Wolfgang Standard (2018 made in Indonesia). I love the Axis shape better and the AX4 has a bigger neck which I like, but other than these 2 things, Wolfgang Standard is really a much better guitar (it is $200 more expensive to be fair). Wolfgang Std has thinner neck and bigger frets, these are personal preference, but it also has better tremolo, better fretwork and better pickups. I will keep both but I have been playing Wolfgang way more, and I just kept the AX4 on the wall for the look, lol.

Sick guitar. I have an AX40D, purple finish. Same guitar but with dimarzio pickups. Although, I think the stock sterling pickups are almost identical to the dimarzio's. Anyway, I'd probably pick up a blue AX40 in an instant if I saw one for sale. My only complain with my ax40d, and actually even with the musicman axis guitars, is that the high e string is super close to the edge of the fretboard. It can slip off real easily. I changed my locking nut to a slightly smaller size and it seems to have improved it! A real shame that Sterling don't make ax40 guitars anymore.
