For anyone else interested, You can not use this charger in BC mode, it is a broken charger and this bogus power saving political rubbish will do more harm (sulfation) to lead batteries & the environment (more replacements). If they ever get rid of PS mode this charger will be utterly useless as sterling seem to not have any care in the world of putting in a custom absorb timer. This power saving feature would not be a problem if the unit had it's own custom absorb timer (time duration AND the option of tail current to float setting), that is the only way to get a lead acid reliable to full 100% after each cycle. Another thing this charger lacks dedicated voltage sensing along with it's .2V drop inside itself and so the absorb timer for LFP is unreliable & goes to float far too early at lower sane charge voltages. So to conclude they need a custom absorb timer & voltage sensing and that would make the CEC power saving not such a bad thing, but now BC mode is useless. First thing I did when I got this unit was switch straight to PS mode.

You can thank the State of California for BC mode... We do not advise using this charger for LFP batteries unless you set it for essentially a single stage with 13.6V or lower or 13.8V then 13.6V or less for float. The bulk duration multiplier algorithm is for lead acid because it was designed for lead acid batteries. Better to use a B2B charger....

Hi Wex, In order to sell our products in the US, BC comes as default. All chargers sold in California have to obey Californian laws. We may have our own personal preference on what we would like, but one has to play by American rules. Regarding your review and what you think we should improve- you make good points. It's complicated to fiddle with our PCU too much in terms of production, but it's something I'll feed across as ideas in the next internal meetings. Otherwise, thanks to the both of you for having interest in the Sterling Power products- we do try!

@@MarineHowTo How do you set it for single stage for LiFePO ?
