Update: yesterday I accidentally discovered another missing piece for keeping my voice in mix instead of flipping into head: covering my teeth with my lips while doing the yawn. Stopped me from running out of breath and gave me much more control above G5.

Awesome! That’s how it works. Every time you’re thinking you can’t find another part of your voice, you do. You make some weird sound to try something different and find some new thing. Glad I could help out 😊

Hey Sterling, I really like your teaching style and this is great advice! Just wanted to mention that it seems like you're confusing tilting the larynx and pulling the larynx down at 2:50. I don't know if this is unintentional, but beginners might think that these are the same from watching the video. However, tilting has nothing to down with larynx height. You can tilt with a high larynx and not tilt with a low larynx. Apart from that, great work!

This is exactly what I needed after a shitty week. I appreciate how when I feel that I suck cause I'm not making the progress I want, you make me wanna push even harder and you also make it fun! Thanks for this! Imma start working on it ASAP.

I have been trying to find my mixed voice for so many years; gone through so many videos, but to no avail. Your video gives me a glimmer of hope because I am able to go over my bridge without hearing too much in the way of "clicking" like when I go from chest to head voice. That being said, my mixed voice is very weak, in terms of volume, and stability, but it is a start! Is there a video of yours that you would recommend to take these humble beginnings and make the voice stronger? Thanks so much!

please a video dedicated to develope low register... Im a tenor and for me is very difficult when I have to go from the higher notes to the low ones without sound breathy... noone in youtube has made videos about how to EFFECTIVELY DEVELOPE the low register...

Thanks again Sterling. Despite staying very quiet and not straining at all, it seems for me that the issue is that I just can’t keep my vocal cords adducted as I go through my bridge, so the sound becomes less crisp and a tiny bit breathier. I certainly can’t maintain vocal fry even in a quiet head voice… I can get cleanly into head voice, but I just need more vocal cord closure from somewhere to make it sound convincing! arrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh 🤪

try singing and doing vocal exercises through a straw into water, helps with vocal cord closure.

Hi, really useful video thanks. I heard an old song by George Michael the other day called 'A Different Corner' and in it he sings the word 'Knees' in the line 'brought me to my knees', he sings this word in a quite high pitch and quite powerfully. I can't hear any vowel modification occurring when he's doing this - can you explain what technique he is using here?

I use a telefunkin M80. Works great. I’ve used others but I’m currently digging that one.

Hahaha. When I push too hard with the diaphragm it makes me fart. Pretty embarrassing in singing lessons. Sorry, I had to make a dumb comment after what you said.
