Good advice all around. I thought I had another pry bar laying around but couldn't find it, ended up using an x-acto knife to cut away at the old sealant until I could get a flat head in there to slowly pry away. This is very easy to do yourself with basic tools. Make sure you take your time cleaning off everything before reassembly, if you think it's clean enough, clean it again, the previous owner clearly had this replaced at some point and it was a mess. The torque specs for the oil pan bolts are 8 ft-lbs

Was there a particular reason you changed the pan? It looks in perfect condition. Mine is completely rusted and it's only 6 years old.

The pan gasket seal was leaking

@@SterlingW8 normally you don't replace the pan because of a leaky seal, you just strip and redo the seal. Was there anything visibly wrong with the pan?

@@CRuM770 true, thinking back, I think it cost like me $20 or so for the pan with screws and new drain plug and washer - from GM parts. And me not knowing what was leaking (gasket or pan) i just spent the $20 vs the $9 for a new drain plug and washer.

@@SterlingW8 that makes sense. I will need to change mine soon so glad you did it and recorded the process. Cheers!
