My mom was a schoolteacher in the 1960s, teaching Kindergarten-Grade 2. Her students found "Augustus" hilarious, because their principal was a Mr. Augustus. The author of "Struwwelpeter" was a psychiatrist. He was one of the first to identify the traits of what we now call ADHD. And every one of the unfortunate children in that book displayed one or more of those traits. Augustus was a picky eater, hypersensitive to certain tastes and textures.

It took a bit to understand your schtick - but I'm hooked. I must say that I am surprised not to find "My Big Ten Inch (Record of the Band that Plays the Blues)" or "The Mustache Song" amongst your collection ...... but there's plenty of time!

"No soup for you!" Too much salt in the store varieties these days. 😢I made soup from scratch in the one cooking class I took, and it was a significantly long process. Then we kept reducing and made bullion. Really fun to do once, but I'd be a starving lazy bachelor if I attempted it every day. 🤣

Der Struwwelpeter ("shock-headed Peter") is an 1845 German children's book written and illustrated by Heinrich Hoffmann. (Wiki)

It's not from a fairy tale but a children's book from 1845 called "Struwwelpeter" by Heinrich Hoffmann. All the stories in it are quite dark, but a lot of the names and phrases are part of everyday German now

Oh, a fairly common one 😊 but I suppose that you have been Disneyed (brothers Grimmed, but more so). Try *SUN, MOON AND TALIA* by Battista 🤔 you'll figure out what the Grimms and Disney did to it soon enough.

German tales are very dark and brutal. The fates of Snow White's stepmother, Cinderella's stepmother and stepsisters, and Rapunzel's prince aren't at all what you've seen in the sanitized versions we're familiar with.

It's the "Suppen Kasper" pretty famous German tale, in the book Struwwelpeter.

Tear filled will be that day when rising from the ashes the guilty shall be judged. Have mercy, Lord Jesus give him eternal rest. It never hurts to know the words to the tune but I'm not sure about those who refuse soup. My bubbe would have not been amused*. *I still use the fleischig lentil soup recipe she taught me back in the mid 1970's.
