I live in Inglewood, since 1968, went to LaTijera Elementary, Crozier Jr. High, Inglewood High School. Mayor Butts is a family friend. Clippers will break ground late this year, or early next year. City of Inglewood has already cleared the necessary space for the Clippers state of the art New Arena. It will have a surrounding park, outside basketball courts, training facilities, new Clippers headquarters, restaurants, entertainment complex. The Fourm is staying put, it will continue as a concert venue. Steve Balmer is the RICHEST owner in Sports, worth $60 Billion! Lakers fans quit Fu****g crying! Clippers are finally getting they're own building OUTRIGHT, No more paying rent to AEG, not looking at statues, banners of the Lakers, Kings. These aren't Donald T Sterling Clippers, they're Steve Balmer's Clippers! Now Steve Balmer, paid $400 million to MSG (James Dolan) Knicks owner to go away!

The Forum has been irrelevant as a sports arena since 1999. Jerry Buss sold it to a church--a church!--when the Lakers moved to Staples Center. Madison Square Garden/James Dolan bought it and turned it into a premiere concert and rare boxing venue. It has been reduced in seating capacity to 10,000 from 18,000. No luxury boxes or suites. It will continue in that vein. Will not be demolished. Ballmer bought it to end the long legal fight against MSG. Clippers have 5 years remaining on their Staples lease. They will never play in the Forum.

Roland Boyer The Forum wasn’t renovated for basketball and hockey unfortunately. They could do that again though. However, there’s an arena going up in Palm Springs owned by the Agua Caliente band for an AHL team. With that, seeing how the G-League Clippers are sponsored by Agua Caliente, it wouldn’t surprise me if they went to Palm Springs as well. That’s the basketball part lol. For concerts and stuff: think of it as MGM owning half the strip and hosting UFC fights at pretty much any of their arenas in Vegas. This is good anyway you look at it.

@@HllywHulk91 the Forum may still host the smaller acts or old reunion tour bands, but the big acts will still be held at either Staples or the new Inglewood arena when it opens. Los Angeles Clippers please have respect for yourself and get your own man, I mean own city. Don't' be the side chick to the Lakers. You should wan't your own city. If you're the only NBA team you don't have to compete. There's plenty good men out there if you give him a chance; my bad I meant teams. These are the biggest cities in the US by population without NBA teams. They are listed from biggest to smallest. (1) San Diego, CA (2) San Jose, CA (3) Austin, TX (4) Jacksonville, FL (5) Fort Worth, TX (6) Columbus, OH (7) Seattle, WA (8) El Paso, TX (9) Nashville, TN (10) Las Vegas, NV My opinion 1 city shouldn't have 2 teams when there is cities wanting 1 team; but, its all about the money so I understand.
@dorothygale11043 жыл бұрын
Steve Ballmer didn’t amass a $100 billion net worth by not knowing what he is doing. Ballmer obviously believes being the 2nd team in L.A. is mote profitable than being the only team in any of the cities you listed, so much so he is putting $1.4 billion of his net worth on the line to build this arena complex on his own. Name the last city in which an arena or stadium was built with no government subsidy? Inglewood will soon have two sports complexes side by side that were built by the owners and not the taxpayers.

@@OjukwuIsaac I was speaking to your erroneous presumption of what a city “should” have. Why would locating a sports franchise be about anything other than money? Why would locating a sports franchise be about anything different than where a manufacturing facility is located? Professional sports franchises are businesses, not feel good charities. The idea that any city “should” have a sports team is just as wrong headed as saying a city “should” have a manufacturing plant because they don’t have one and another city has more than one. When you buy a sports franchise then you can decide to locate it anywhere your heart desires. FYI - there is so much monry to be made in Los Angeles that never has the City or County of Lis Angeles paid any amount to subsidize the construction of sny stadium or arena for any team to relocate or stay in the LA area. Even when the Dodgers came to LA, the city swapped land that the O’Malley family already owned in LA for the land Dodger Stadium sits on and the owners built Dodger Stadium out of their own funds. The Coliseum was built for the Olympics in the 1930’s, not for the Rams. The Forum, Staples Center, SoFi Stadium, and now the Clippers Arena were all built of thd owner’s private funds. No other city in the US can say that, not even New York and certainly not any of the cities you listed. That is why LA has 2 football teams, a baseball team and 2 basketball teams. Anaheim/Orange County did build the original Angel Stadium, but that stadium is not located in LA or LA County. But even then, all renovations of that stadium sine it opened in 1966 were funded by team ownership and that stadium was recently sold to the team’s owner, who plans to build a new stadium on that site out of his own funds.

@@dorothygale1104 @Dorothy Gale @Dorothy Gale @Dorothy Gale People have different motives; although money is the most popular reason; people do make business decisions that have other motivations other than the money; some even take less money for a more personal. An owner can overlook a city like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago and choose to build a franchise in St. Louis because that's his hometown and all friends and family is from there; for him bringing this blessing to the people he love might mean more. Matter of fact teams have LA before. Raiders and St.Louis. I was just using St. Louis as an example; but, the Rams actually did leave LA for St. Louis. Different motivations. You can't speak about why business owners make certain decisions because every human is unique. As for where a business should be; that's beauty of being a business owner; you can have it in any city you like of allowed. Now is it wise for that city; that depends on the demand; and other factors. As far as the cities I named; I was just being sarcastic because there's this focus so much on big market teams; I just chose the biggest populated cities as examples to say all teams should be in biggest cities of that's the case; or like I read with someone else posted all teams should be in Los Angeles or New York. Thanks for explaining to me why these owners made their decisions; I am not them; I'm not from La nor NY nor care to live in those places. At one time I did wanted to move to La grew out of it. My motivations are different; I would even have it most of the cities I suggested; I would if allowed have it in a city where no other NBA team is. That's my opinion.
@dorothygale11043 жыл бұрын
@@OjukwuIsaac Like I said, when you buy an NBA team, then you can locate it snywhere you want. But said thst accitt “shouldn’t” have 2 teams and coached as an opinion when you were really making a judgement. Also, what @blrssing” is s small matket isnrr givinh to the prople og thst market. Are they paying less to gobto games in skall markets? No. Are they paying more in taxes to subsidize thr building of arenas ot stadiums? Yes. So, those people are not blessed but double burdened; they don’t pay less to attend games and they pay higher taxes to subsidize building a stadium or arena. Your exsmple of the Rams moving to St. Louis actually proves my point. They moved because they erre going to make more money in St. Louis because the city Built them a new stadium and least it to the Rams for $1 a year. When the lease was up, the Rams moved back to LA as soon as they could. The primary reason owners moved or started tesms in smaller markets was because there were already multiple teams in the big markets. At one time, NY had 3 baseball teams, so a new franchise had to be located elsewhere, which is how St. Louis got a baseball team; at that time it was the biggest city that didn’t have a baseball team. FYI - San Duego, which is on your list as one of the biggest cities in the US had a basketball team and the name of that team was the Clippers. They left Dan Diego because despite it being a big market, the people didn’t support the team. San Diegonalso used to haveca footbalk team, but the people of San Diego refused to subsidize any part of a new stadium, so the Chargers moved to LA. Despite your claim to the contrary, it is always sbout miney. How much money can be made in the cities that din’t akready have a team or can I make more money adding another team to a market that already has a team or in a different market (not necessarily smaller) that doesn’t have a team If you research every expansion franchise in every sport, not a single new team went to a city because the owner(s) intentionally wanted to make less money than they could make somewhere else. Sorry to burst your bubble.
