Steve is one of the nicest people I've ever met! After a Houston show in the early 90's I began talking to him about all the 80's shows I saw in Shreveport LA & how much I enjoyed every show. He gave me a big hug & said thank you. Such a kind person! I wish him all the best!

Poetic Justice kept my interests in this genre alive during those lean (alt rock) years of the early to mid 90s.

Love and War/Poetic Justice/Psychoschizophrenia are the best three albums that a band put out in a row. "She Likes It On Top" has the best guitar solo in a song ever. This band is absolutely great.

Steve once told me a story about Jani Lane taking a dump in their condo that smelled so bad it cleared the place out. Fun fact: Steve and I worked on 'Body double' at producer Randy Everett's house. He even broke out the double-neck acoustic Robbin Crosby gave him.

My favorite album is Poetic Justice. That album got me through hell! Ron Taylor is arguably the best rock singer from that era.

I really enjoyed this interview. I've been a Lillian fan since the early 90s but got away from rock and roll for a long time. In recent years I've gotten back into it, and it was nice to see that one my favorite bands never stopped making records. 'Poetic' and 'Psycho' were always favorites of mine, and I realize many people want Ron Taylor back, etc, etc. He was and still is a great singer. Those were great records (understatement), but if you've not done so, give some of the more recent Lillian records a listen and you'll find a lot of wonderful stuff there to be discovered. For example, 'Water's Rising' is particularly wonderful. Get a few tracks in and you'll be blown away by songs like 'I Have To Die, Goodbye,' 'Fields of Yesterday,' and 'Until The End of the World.' There seems to be a natural reaction by some to dismiss the post-Ron Taylor albums: but what is missed is that Steve is still writing the songs and creating all the beautiful melodies that have always made Lillian songs what they are. Many talk about his guitar skills (and rightly so), but he still remains a wonderful writer and poet that has the ability to haunt and inspire with his lyrics. And the overall musicianship (not just from Blaze) on the later records is still not notch. For what it's worth, Ron Taylor will always be my favorite Lillian singer: but I admire Steve for moving on, keeping things evolving and interesting, and living in the present.

I'm glad POETIC and PSYCHO are finally on Spotify. I discovered the band on LOVE & WAR. I loved the album, saw the tour, been hooked ever since. If they had been on any other label than MCA Records they may have caught on with the masses. I was able to interview Steve and Ron during the L&W and Poetic tours. Good guys, fun interviews.

Hi Jason, Steve mentioned about playing the Bang Your Head Festival in Germany. That's how I discovered Lillian Axe, you've got to see the performances from that concert. I saw Lillian Axe at On The Rox in Dallas (1989). Great show. Great band - better than most signed around that time. Some of the Poison guys were there that night. I heard - though not sure it was accurate - the Poison guys were in town b/c their bass player married a local girl that day.

I went to grammar school with Steve and saw the band every chance I got including the Ratt show. In fact no one knew Lillian was playing till we got there. They killed it. I bumped into the guys in the audience later and they recognized me and asked my opinion of the show. did we at all look like we were crapping ourselves..because we were. It almost didnt happen as it was last minute and Steve was awol. They found him at the lake and he raced to Mississippi. Steve said he was pretty sure he broke his speedometer .

Ron Taylor is BY FAR the best singer that Lillian Axe ever had. Ron Taylor is one of the most underrated frontmen in rock from the late 80's to early 90's. He was magical on stage. Steve and Ron were such a great duo. Saw the band dozens of times in Dallas from 1984 to 1986. The singers I've heard that have tried to replace Ron have failed in my opinion.
