Steve looks good. I've been saying for a long time that Steve is equivalent to Maxi in SC, they both want to fight you toe-to-toe, standing up and in your face. The only time Steve wants to knock you down is when he KO's you so these changes are good to see.

One thing I can see is that his execution barrier has been lowered for a lot of his moves like gattling gun, shiro combo is gone, instant running has been made easier. I believe he’s much more accessible to intermediate to beginner players now.

Iirc, the damage on the wall in an ender combo using the Gatling gun, could reach 90 damage in the latest version of T7. In this video, Tmm managed to do no more than 80 damage and a little less on certain combo routes.

Steve main here. since Tekken 6. just played the new game for these 2 days and I must say STEVE IS SO FREAKING MONSTROUS. his wall game is insane. previously we only have flicker and 1234 punches and peekaboo to pressurised the oppo to make mistake (in which in fairness is more than enough), now put in the LH stance (lion's heart a.k.a Ali shuffle) and Steve is the ultimate pressure king. I'm having unmeasurable fun right now playing him. such a genius fighting style tweak by Harada and his team ❤

What does he do when his opponent just ducks under everything? From what I've seen (I've been writing down frame data for the characters we've seen in the beta) the high punches seem to always jail while the high kicks are duckable. So his high punch strings should he safe from high crushes

Very hard for beginners unfortunately but definitely the most worth it. Finnicky execution, several stances and transitions, untraditional base (only character without the standard left kick/right kick). The good thing about Steve is if you practice well enough, you'll dominate early ranks, learning other characters will be easier and will never worry about your character dropping tierlists cause Steve is always top tier for some reason

Steve is very hard because he connects moves/combos through his stances and stance transitions once you get those down you’ll be wrecking anyone who isn’t ready. Tekken 8 will probably be alive for 7 years again like Tekken 7. Just remember to have fun while improving and you’ll be impressed how far you’ll get with Steve.

A lot of nerfs they seem to outweigh the new moves. Extended duck in no longer guard break (his new guardbreak isnt good as the old one). b1,2 no spin (also cant even go into peekaboo its auto new stance). Limited bounds!, and also low parry is pretty much useless for Steve now. b2 not launching. ws2 not ch launching. his side weaving string not launching. He already struggled with comeback potentiality but still no new lows. His db2,3 nosebreathe distance hellsweep not knocking down anymore for oki. b1 damage nerf. df2 cant shiro combo. His punishment is among the worst. and overall a Very Hard Character. But I'm still sure people will ask for nerfs because some insanely good tekken players will beat them even tho his winrate is among the worst in online statistics

Yeah tbh it looks like Steve got the Kazuya treatment, the new stance doesn't look threatening and almost all of his CH launchers are gone aside from B1, which now does way less damage. Less knockdowns, less wall splats, no new lows to be afraid of, no more launch from B2... IMO it doesn't look great for Steve.

Idk, it seems like Steve is even more execution intensive even though he was already one of the hardest characters to play well with. It seems like he has no proper launches as f 2,2 is easily avoidable since both f 2,1 and 2,2 are highs (simply duck?). I feel like in a game with crazy overtuned characters like Azucena and Jin, Steve will be way underwhelming. Combos just seem very mediocre outside of walls.

Yes it is duck and launch punishable. Keep in mind the 18 dmg is free because it is on BLOCK. If the opponent is so eager to duck they still have to take the risk of eating a natural launcher that flips automatically or a heat engager mid that is safe on block. Pretty good guessing game no?

He seems like a dumbed down version of himself. I don't really like that. Why give him that stance mixup and throws? He can now easily open up the opponent without having to dash into db3,2 or trying to interrupt with b1. The punishment is so shit that its not really valid to play defensively. it is now about who has the momentum and is more aggresive(even more than it used to be). I guess thats what they wanted the game to be played like. Considering how stupid the evasion and panic moves of some charecters are, having no good punishers will be a nightmare for steve. Matchups like Feng, Zafina, Azucena somehow seem even more miserable to play than it is now. Still going to continue playing my main tho, guv gang for life. Wish me luck.
