This car is definitely my favorite of all the current builds. And Steve rolling along behind the wheel with a cigar big enough to plug up exhaust pipes is quite the image of someone living his best life. Excited to see more of this build!

Steve has a nice hair cut I almost didn't recognize him on the last few video's. He always had his hat pulled way down over his eye's. What a difference a hair cut makes. Plus the car with new glass is always cool and it fits with the custom chop y'all did.the top is going to look even cooler once it's made.

You have taught me alot. I have always been a 60s hot rod guy but I might build a 30s ford as soon as I finish my Shelby. You have also built a good business that supports your hobby and saves alot of cars and parts from the junkyard. Thanks you guys !!!
@danontherun56856 ай бұрын
I've been building 50's/60s cars for 50+ years was going to quit cause I did all I wanted but stumbled on a 31 coupe and 32 4 door couple of years ago, never had so much fun building cars. Don't have to be Ford, some orphan brands are better built to start with, no body wood, parallel springs, stronger frames and rear gas tanks. My prewars are comfy cruisers, got enough high performance units.

Sorry for getting personal and I’m not dunking on the old style, which is very close to mine… Guess it just goes to show doing something fun and meaningful at work transfers to your personal life too. You’re all living the dream, keep up the good work!

As "Willie" would say, "Perfek" !!! All that's missing with this car now is some "Cheesecake" images !!! That tall shifter on top of that "floorbox" is timeless !!! Learned to drive on a 48 Ford pickup with a flathead six and one of those floor boxes. Right out of high school, worked for a cousin who had a 48/49 three quarter ton flatbed with a non-syncro four speed. Learning to drive/shift that was aa blast. His partner could shift that thing up or down through all the gears without using the clutch. WITHOUT a hint of a gear crash, of course. All about taking the pressure off the gears by "feathering" the throttle and matching the engine speed to the rolling speed. "Double clutching" was fun to learn for me at the time !! The little "back and forth" in neutral for gear change timing was a habit I learned and still instinctively practice all these years later whenever I get the chance to drive something of that vintage/type. Fun, Fun, Fun !!!

Man what a beautiful dash this car now has. Get the wheel restored and it will be perfect. This is my favorite of all your cars. The skirts, the lights, the pan, the stance it all flows so nicely together. Once completed this is going to be one extra nice custom. It rides smooth and is definitely a cruiser that will get double looks. The car is period correct as if you drove it out of a time tunnel. Congrats!

just a quick comment on that second shift problem. In our early days (1950's) we used to have a wire from the dash to loop around the floor shift lever to hold in second called a "grandpa, pappy, or ole man wire". I am sure other names as well in other parts of the country. Used trans were $5.00 to $10.00 then.,

If you end up pulling the trans, I suggest that you check the alignment of the bell housing. If the input shaft is misaligned with the crankshaft it can cause the transmission to pop out of gear. Trust me on this one, guys. I worked on all types of manual transmissions for 11 years. Are you going to put a top down tonneau cover on the '38?

Is this car going to get a convertible top or a Carson? If it's staying fully open, or getting a Carson, how about filling in the gap between the rear seat and outer body? Also, do you do anything to make the cars handle and stop better than original? Oh, and what are 'chatter rods' ?
