Steve has such a "zen" about him. Always chill and mild mannered and it comes through in his drumming. Solid relaxed groove even if the music is at a fast pace.

Holy shit when he explains something as simple as how to develop an idea you can really see how awesome this guy is

Feels like the front of the script was lifted from over 93.5% of all porn videos, save for the drums and Italian parts: Delivery guy ends up engaging with recipient(s) in some unexpected way and “helps” him/her/them. Loved seeing Steve play along. Great work. 👍🏽

Very nice interview. 'Groove is an agreement.' - I'll remember that. Only the other day I had keyboard playing friend I play with talking about an old band he used to play with and he said that when they recorded it sounded too messy 'with them all grooving' and that they changed to playing 'straight' instead for the recording. As a drummer I was bothered by that... And I've been trying to work out how to explain a way that groove can happen and everything can stay tight. Gadd summed it up exactly there, it sounds like these guys weren't agreeing on their groove. I'll keep that in my back pocket, it's fine way of approching what could otherwise be a difficult subject to broach with someone who's not really listening to the players around them... "Lets agree on a groove... TOGETHER."

The two go together, you can't be a great player without first becoming a good person.
